John O'Neill To Be On Hardball Tonight
Hardball | 8/12/04 | Chris Matthews

Posted on 08/12/2004 4:04:32 PM PDT by pookie18

Since O'Neill will be the guest, I'm sure it will be "hardball". However, after what he encountered on Crossfire with Carvile (sic) & Leapin' Lanny Davis, this'll probably feel like a walk in the park...

O'Neil is no two huckster. He is head of his own very influential and prosperous law firm in Houston. He took on Kerry 30 years ago (Dick Cavette show) and has gone on w/his life whereas Kerry is stuck in a time warp. O'Neil's motive now, he says, is that he and the other vets chose to speak out because Kerry is running as president and CIC, and they KNOW from their own first hand observations then and now that Kerry is UNFIT to be leader of the world's greates nation. O"Neil is once again defending this country. I treasure him and his compatriots for once again going into the fray.

Forgive me for making the comparison if it offends anyone, but it reminds me of the stories of Jesus arguing with the Jewish leadership. They could not touch him because he had the truth on his side and their motives were disingenuous, to say the least.

My point? The truth is a powerful weapon. More powerful than a two edged sword.

Why doesn't O'Neill mention Gardner? Gardner was a crewman on Kerry's boat.

Matthews and Hurley were spinning so rapidly, it was impossible for O'Neill to get to everything. They would come back from a commercial break and Matthews would immediately spew about a dozen DNC talking points and would give O'Neill about 30 seconds to respond, before interrupting him.

Matthews came off very petulant and childish.

Exactly what I wrote in the email I just sent to his show. Think he will read it tomorrow night?

I missed Hurley's smirk as I was busy typing my post!

Thanks for telling us the visuals.

I sure am tired of people saying that Bush flying a supersonic jet is not courageous. I don't care if it's in combat or not. Not just anybody can do it.

Kerry did more than the President? Really, Chrissy?

Let's see... Kerry lied to get his medals, bugged out after 16 weeks, then lied to the Senate about the honorable men and women in the service, calling them murderers, rapists, and war criminals, then went on to have a 19 year career in the Senate so embarrassing that he didn't even mention it in his acceptance speech.

On the other hand, President Bush led the country through 9-11, two wars that have liberated over 30 million people and renewed economic prosperity all the while restoring the diginity of the office from the previous stain of an occupant. Dubya's place in history is secure.

So one can only conclude, Chrissy, that you're an idiot who should wear Kerry kneepads from now on. At least McCreepey wiped his chin before he went on the air.

I used to respect Chris Matthews as a journalist, but not anymore. His conduct on Hardball this evening interviewing John O'Neill was reprehensible. The short version of the show is that Hurley kept saying, "lies, lies, it's all lies", Matthews kept saying, "politics, politics, it's all politics", and O'Neill kept saying, "facts, facts, it's all facts". But every time O'Neill tried to outline the facts, Matthews either interrupted him or tried to divert the conversation away from facts and toward motivation.

It's no wonder MSNBC has ratings trouble. I only watched this tonight because O'Neill was on, and won't be watching Hardball again any time soon. Chris Matthews' behavior tonight has also convinced me that I need to buy a copy of O'Neill's book and read it for myself.

Chris failed (miserably) to recognize the FACT that he had a Vietnam veteran seated right in front of him who served his country in Vietnam LONGER than Kerry did.

Thank you! That point didn't occur to me tonight, though watching other shows (O'Reilly springs to mind) I've noticed how some say you can't question someone who served like John Kerry, all the while questioning those who served like these Swift Vets.

Just a thought. What if one of the Swift boat vets that is in the Kerry camp and served on the same boat with him comes out and admits he has been lying and just cannot continue?

Does anyone think that is even remotely possible?

Sometimes the PurpleHeart becomes a political toy given to just about anything that reeived a booboo, not to denigrate those who have actually earned it, but I was in a hospital in Kuwait when the commandant of the marine corp presented a purple heart to a young marine who so graciously refused it saying he did not earn it because he simply fell out of a truck, even though it happened while his unit was under fire, he took it anyways because the commandant told him earned it none the less.

In John O'Neill I saw an honorable man tonight. The same honorable man who debated Kerry years ago.The questions to ask are

What does John Kerry have to gain by lying? The answer would be the Presidency.

What does John O'Neill have to gain by lying.Absolutely nothing.

John Kerry has the most to lose with the truth O'Neill is speaking. They will go to any and all lengths to discredit him.Matthews is a silly fool who tonight has shown once more, that he has no creditability. No use for him to try to hide his feelings, he has laid them wide open with this circus he just had on.

So now I am going to make a donation for truth to the Swiftboat Veterans for the Truth!

BUSH LED TWO WINNING CAMPAIGNS ON THE WAR ON TERROR.
Matthes is an idiotic commie liberal a-- gnome!

All Kerry did was run from actions in Vietnam for 4 months.
He was so bad at his job that he constantly put his men in un-needed danger.

Even,IF Kerry's lies were true, which they are not....all it would prove is that he was so bad at his job that he managed to used the wrong tactics (in major fashion) 3 times in 4 months. Normally folks lose their command after the first time of being incredibly stupid.

Yup. Flying fighter jets is dangerous duty no matter where you fly. Several guardsmen died flying those f 102 Delta Darts. I remember seeing them fly over my home in socal during the late 60's and 70's. We always ran out the door to look when we heard the screaming afterburners. Yeah!!!
