the only people who knew what was coming in Germany during the 30's were the so-called "fringe" type.

That's always been the case. In fact, I'd say that freepers more than fill that niche, I'm proud to say. Being on a war footing in this case doesn't seem to be following the historical precedents of the past. I hope no harm has befallen this brave patriot. But if F.O.B. are up to their old tricks again, I'm not sure if the climate exists in this politically charged environment to take it anywhere because of the polarization of the electorate and the usual suspects in the liberal media. IOW, there will be an outcry and probably a patsy assigned and then it will go away.

The environment today is also a little more "real time". I wonder what effect that has on those of us with our finger on the pulse, in terms of what this event could have been.

I would expect the polorization to amplify any reaction to an event such as this. There are a lot of koolaid drinkers on both sides.
