The environment today is also a little more "real time". I wonder what effect that has on those of us with our finger on the pulse, in terms of what this event could have been.
I would expect the polorization to amplify any reaction to an event such as this. There are a lot of koolaid drinkers on both sides.
I agree, but I think that the media will serve well in their role of chaff dispersal such that the "Kool-aid" drinkers will just fade into the background. The media will put so much clutter material into the air that the real edges of the problem will lose their definition and just fade away, especially if something earth shaking occurs in the meantime. "Overtaken by events." F.O.B. always get's away with the crime. I think of those guys as the real life equivalent of the "cigarette smoking man" in the X-Files.
