(Fox News) Carl Cameron Confronts Kerry Campaign on Cambodia
Fox News ^ | 9 Aug 2004 | Carl Cameron

Posted on 08/09/2004 3:20:41 PM PDT by mcg1969

Hugh Hewitt just finished playing an entire story from Fox News wherein Carl Cameron confronted the Kerry campaign regarding his Cambodia claims.

Intially, they denied that Kerry had ever said he was in Cambodia. So Carl presented them with the Senate Record and the Boston Globe article where he most unambiguously did so. They said they would have to get back to him on this one, but sticks to their story that he was near Cambodia, but not actually in Cambodia.

THIS STORY HAS LEGS!

"Khmer Rouge wasn't formed until 1970" Roger that!

I wouldn't get too wrapped up in this "fact".

It appears the Khmer Rouge (Cambodian Communist Party) was in existence prior to 1970. However, it was not a significant factor until starting around March, 1970, as it had fewer than 3,000 members before this.

The following is from the Encyclopedia:

(Pol Pot) was born in Prek Sbauv in what was then a part of French Indochina... In 1949, he won a scholarship to study radio engineering in Paris. During his study, he became a communist, and joined an emergent Khmer communist group. This group was called the French Communist Party. In 1953, he returned to Cambodia... In the late 1960s, Sihanouk's head of internal security, Lon Nol took brutal action against the revolutionaries, known as Khmer Rouge. Pol Pot started an armed uprising against the government, supported by the People's Republic of China (PRC). Prior to 1970, the Khmer Rouge was an insignificant factor in Cambodian politics...

The formation of the Khmer Rouge is murky, but it was apparently an established movement in 1968. However, as the NVA totally controlled the Cambodian border areas at this time (and there was very little Cambodian population living there) it is unlikely there were many, if any, Khmer Rouge in this border area (5 miles across the border?) in 1968. It was not until a couple years later they really got established as a military force.

... unfortunately, still too late for John F. (Fraud) Kerry's fanciful story....

I won't be surprised if the Kerry campaign has already put that goofy explanation out as their talking point du jour.

It's a goofy explanation alright. The point of Kerry's assertion, while on the Senate floor, is LOST if he didn't believe he was in Cambodia. "In" or "Not in" is irrelevant to the point of Kerry's veracity on this story.

The part Agar read was about the swift boat commanders' reunion in 2003; Kerry showed up with a camera crew, shoved aside some of the veterans so he could get to the dock to be photographed beside the boat; when asked, none of the swift boat veterans agreed to be photographed with him.

Oh, man. I need to get some things done. I have a feeling I don't want to skim this thread.

LOL

But for Kerry, who spent six violent months commanding a patrol boat on the Mekong River,

Six months? really!

Jimbos image is from a page of the 1986 Congressional Journal. Other images of that are floating around as well, and any law library will have a copy of it. I'm not sure if Thomas has the Congressional Journal online back to 1986 or not.

Your words were repeated within 10 minutes or so on Brit's show by Moira Liasson.

And:

No kidding, you just encapsulated Juan's argument on Brit's roundtable.

These people are DNC mouthpieces and therefore slime.

Does anyone know how or if anyone has requested a freedom of information act request for the commands / orders given to John Kerry's swiftboat? These would definitely define whether he was in Cambodia.

Barnes is calling for JfnK to step forward and explain the Cambodia story. All agree this should get the same level of scrutiny that GWB's service got.

However, don't bet the ranch.
