In honor of places that we know we could eat without being interupted by Kerry... Please post your favorite BBQ joint, where it is and what your favorite thing is at that place...
The first weekend of November (Deer season) and the first weekend of April (turkey season) the Winchell Volunteer Fire Department, Winchell, Texas has the best brisket, sausage and chicken with all the trimmings, cooked and served by volunteers. Head cook is the first Republican ever elected in the county and that was in '92. Stop by if you are in the county. All you can eat....$6.00!
Yes. They got into the grocery store / frozen food business a few years ago and the Northwest deal came from that, I think.
My wife works for a travel agency and arranges most of the trips for the family of the owner of Corky's. They tend to drop off coupons for free meals if they liked the trip. I love it when they do that 8^0
If you're near Omaha NE, try this one. Not much to look at from the outside, but they start cooking at 4 in the morning. The meat falls off the bone.

Why does the phrase "Obnoxiousness - CATCH IT" come so easily to mind when I read your posts?
Maybe we need some sort of "Newbies Posting Pen" until these kids learn their manners.
Ah, after the "Let's display people's join date" gambit comes the "Let's be condescending and snotty when called on a posting faux paus" tactic. Good job - if you meant to amuse me, you've succeeded.
Anyone who doesn't understand that conservatism is an optimistic, happy and humorous philosophy isn't a conservative.
And anyone who takes a light-hearted finger-wag so negatively and personally is most definitely not a conservative.
My Mom and Dad hail from Shreveport, then lived in Dallas for a long time. I remember travelling as a kid in N. La, E. TX and eating the best damn bbq.
I've lived in NC for 26 years and am still looking for a comparable fare from a restaurant. I finally learned how to make it myself and am in the proccess of wearing out my first smoker.
A few years ago my Aunt/Uncle from Houston were passing through, saw a BBQ sign and stopped for lunch. His exact words: "I asked her (waitress) for some sauce and she brought me a bottle of the most watered down miserable excuse for bbq sauce I've ever seen".
NC sauce is 97% vinegar and has the consistancy of apple juice.
Kerry "mentioned" Gates BBQ here in Kansas City during his stop here yesterday. Funny thing is, as the journalist writing the article in the Kansas City Red Star said, he had just eaten at the Hereford House, a very reknowned steak restaurant. He talks about BBQ, but doesn't eat it, he goes to the expensive KC steak houses........... (Oh, Gates is black-owned) no pandering, or anything.
Keep them in Chat where they belong then.
All Freepers are invited.
FR mail me if you want the date and details for this year's Third Annual.
My backyard, prepared by me.
I definately agree with Rendezvous. I had a hankerin' for their ribs yesterday but DH said Memphis was just to far to go on a Friday night. Party pooper.

Jamaican BBQ ... heavenly!
Now I'm hungry; and I know all we have in the kitchen is Chinese! Somebody's going to have to go OUT!
Ahh, kids today.
*rubs the kid's hair*
Go on out and play, asgie.
And all Real Q is Brisket, no sauce.
Pig cookers need not apply.

I've heard of that one! But I've eaten the best ribs at Billy's BBQ--Jasper, TX.
Have a wonderful day.
You are not going to be making any friends here if you continue with a hall monitor attitude.
BBQ threads are a weekend tradition here at FR.
Otto's makes a great sandwich, but they tend to get their sweet sauce on the brisket.
