Anti Kerry ad Causing Controversy (WTVG WILL RUN SWIFT VETS AD)

An anti John Kerry TV ad is causing controversy across the county including right here in Toledo.

A group of Vietnam veterans calls John Kerry a bad leader who lied to get his war medals. This sixty second ad by a group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, starts airing today in three battleground states including Ohio. In all, 13 Vietnam veterans accuse John Kerry of lying about his decorated war record and betraying his shipmates by later opposing the Vietnam War.

13 action news and Toledo Blade political analyst Fritz Wenzel says the ad comes just a week after the democratic convention when Kerry touted his war record. He also said "what this commercial does is undercuts that main claim to fame for him, it muddies that water more than anything else, we're talking about events more than 35 years old." Republican senator John McCain, a former prisoner of war called the ad "dishonest" and "dishonorable." McCain also called on the White House to condemn the ad as well. The White House has declined. UT political science professor David Davis, who's a Vietnam veteran, considers the ad unethical.

The big question is how will voters react? At least four stations, including 13 abc *will* air the advertisement from swiftvets.com.

When the charge is minor, the liberal media will take care of suppression of the truth. When the charge is serious, lawyers will get involved. I love politics. Now the democratic lawyers try to intimidate the liberal media to not air the truth (as the Swifties see it)... Only in America.....

Maybe I fell as leep and missed something but, as I recall, Kerry has based his entire presidential campaign on four months of his life more than 35 years ago. If he has made these 4 months the cornerstone of his bid for the WH, we have a right to the story - the WHOLE story and ALL of the story.

After all, if it's fair to attack Bush for his alcoholism nearly 20 years ago (and Bush wasn't running on the alcoholism ticket), IMO, it's fair to know the whole story of Kerry's 4 months . . . . the 4 months he has based his entire presidential campaign on.

This is GREAT!! I thought the ads wouldn't be able to be run anywhere due to the threatened Dem lawsuits and slanted liberal media bias. If vets in at least the battleground states will be able to see the ads, then that's phenomenal progress. This story is just not dying, although the liberal media and Kerry campaign is trying their utmost to suppress it and malign the Swift Boat Vets for Truth.

"McCain also called on the White House to condemn the ad as well. The White House has declined. "

Actually, the author of this article is dishonest. I saw with my own eye, President Bush's press secretary denounce this ad. Of course he lumped the denunciation in with all the other ads put out by 527s without mention MoveOn.org by name.

I have spent the last 2 days sending protest e-mails to papers, stations, etc. who were against the Swift Boat Vets. I do think we have the power to make changes. I thought long and hard because I didn't want to hurt the President but in the end, I sent a nice check to the Swift Boat Vets today. The country deserves to know the truth and not just the Democratic version of the truth. Kerry is running his campaign on his Viet Nam service and the man is a Traitor. The country needs to hear about the man that wants to be President. This is sure hard work!!!

I was just watching Fox New's and listened to how Kerry fled the scene of the mine explosion. All I could think of was the Monty Python Song from the Holy Grail where Robin ran away. I dedicate this rendition to John Kerry.

Minstrel's song #1

Bravely bold Sir John rode forth from Vietnam.
He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir John.
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir John!

He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken,
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir John!

His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off
And his pen--

Minstrel's song #2

Brave Sir John ran away,
Bravely ran away, away.
When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir John turned about
And gallantly, he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir John.

Minstrel's song #3

He is packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and buggering up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely he is throwing in the sponge.

'He's going to tell!'

He's going to tell! He's going to tell!
He's going to tell! He's going to tell!
He's going to tell! He's going to tell!
He's going to tell! He's going to tell!
He's going to tell! He's going to tell!
He's going to tell! He's going to tell!
He's going to tell about his great escape.
Oh, he fell a long, long way,
But he's here with us today.
What a wonderful escape!

Also, consider this.

From the very beginning, the SBVT have been discredited by the DNC and the media is demanding that they prove their accusations.

When McAwful and Fat Boy accused W of being a deserter, the media trotted off to the White House and demanded proof to the contrary.

Nah, no DblStd here!

Anti Kerry ANYTHING causes controversy in the media.

Anything pro Bush, in the media, doesn't exist.

Dubya, as a supersonic fighter jet pilot doesn't exist, however just the "talk" of Dubya being AWOL does exist and gets promoted.

Dubya's military records exist publicly, Kerry's records do not.

Kerry served in a time of war, we all know, however Kerry's antiwar stance after 4 months of service in Vietnam we have to fight tooth and nail to find out about.

Dubya, flies into a combat zone to show appreciation for the excellent job the troops did in Iraq, sharing Thanksgiving with them and it is quickly forgotten by the media AFTER their condemning the idea of a sitting POTUS for doing such a dangerous thing.

Dubya, as POTUS, lands on an aircraft carrier to meet homecoming troops from the combat zone and gets chastised via the media for it.

Not one media outlet is willing to focus on Kerry's 20 years of voting, his lack of voting presently because of more important issues such as running for POTUS, and of course his sensible, loving wife, who is a billionaire who has NEVER lost her compassion for the hard working little people in our country.

All in all, who needs FR when we have an unbiased media to give us ALL the information we need through proxy?

GO look for the FR post on the 4th estate. Kerry has that in mind...........

"I have called you here today to tell you that your reign is over." Apparently he said this to some reporters prior to rehearsing his acceptance speech. The article describes that this is the opening shot in the Democrat-declared War on the Free Press.

If elected, do you think we will not have state run media? After all, what all did he do on that recent visit to those corporations and military folks in the PRC? Maybe he really is the Manchurian Candidate.

"I have been scanning the news reports today and those media outlets that have reported that they are pulling the Swift Boat Vet ad got a protest email from me. The media outlets in MY area (Chicago) have run the Swift Boat Vet ad, got a "thank you" email!"

It's way past the time that something dirties Kerry some! I cannot believe all the out of the ball park things the libs and dems have said against Bush. Does Bush whine? No! I've also seen a book come out "Unfit to Command" regarding Kerry. Just watch the dems whine over that one and look how many sleezy untruthful books have come out regarding Bush. And this Michael Moore character - what a low-life - making money off of 9/11 victims and calling it a movie of truth. He's laughing all the way to the bank and you can bet he didn't make this so-called movie for any moral reasons. I heard Bill O'Reilly (haven't liked Bill much lately, but i did see interview) interview Michael Moore - what a twit Moore is. Doesn't sound smart at all. His answers to questions are more questions. He completely avoids answering. For a scarey mind like his getting the attention he is getting greatly concerns me. It makes the world a scarier place to live knowing there are minds out there like that.

I have said for a while now - Democrats sure bad-mouth Bush - but you can't get them to say a good thing about Kerry when you ask them any questions about Kerry. They are lost for words. Ask them any questions about Kerry and they just bad-mouth Bush as their answer. They defend Kerry by bashing Bush. How strange and tacky. They are in a complete state of denial about their democratic candidate. I'm pleased that this ad has come out and I hope they show it constantly prior to the election. Good grief, I've even had to straighten out my own mother regarding her beliefs of Bush. I never knew my mother was a liberal as well as a democrat. I've straightened her out on things she believes about Bush - but sure as I am typing this right now - she will vote for Kerry. Go figure! Bush in 04 for me!

I am beginning to wonder if McCain's stance isn't all about the money after all. In the end, what does he stand to gain by saying this?

I hope more vets and regular folks will start donating to the SwiftVets group when the ad airs and they see it on television... I'm crossing my fingers hard that this can be played here in Pennsylvania!

They need to edit this ad and remove the last few lines: "he could not be trusted" and "he is not a war hero", etc. Totally gratuitous and distracting. Just sounds like partisan sour grapes. The two best clips are the "doctor" and the guy who disputed the Bronze with "I was there, I saw what happened".
