I suspect that if Kerry's service records were released -- including his mediocre fitness reports -- we would begin to see the valid profile of this despicable megalomaniac in its true light.

The problem here is that the Naval Service utilizes the fitness report procedure to kill a weak officer's promotion, as well as assist in accelerating a 5%'s fast track.

In killing the weak performer, we damn with faint praise -- and, to the uninitiated, it might seem that the bum was indeed an "adequate" performer. Of course, the Promotion Board members read between the lines, and know exactly what the game is.

I would be really interested in knowing what my old friend, RAdm. Art Price, in Coronado, has in his little black book on Kerry. Art was CTF-116 at the time, and Hoffman, et. al. reported to him. Art is getting along in years, and I suspect he is keeping his own counsel on this one.

I have known my share of Kerrys in my many sea tours. We used to call them "One Tour Rape Artists" -- Commanding officers who would burn a ship and crew to ashes in an attempt to get that knotch on the holster enroute to flag rank. In my view, there is nothing more contemptible that an officer can ever do than this, for the entire crew is literally devastated by such self-serving conduct. As an aside, I sent my money to the Vets. Hope we can continue to press this issue until the truth sees the light of day.
