WASHINGTON (AP) Republican Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad criticizing John Kerry's military service ''dishonest and dishonorable'' and urged the White House on Thursday to condemn it as well.
''It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me,'' McCain said in an interview with The Associated Press, referring to his bitter Republican primary fight with President Bush.

Will someone please tell John McCain to shut up?
The difference is that this is truth and Moore's is lies... truth sells.
When I said not so very long ago, I didn't mean yesterday. Both parties seemed to stop correcting their own by the mid sixties.
manchurian mccain's own record in Nam is suspect...
Gee, Johnny Mc, what if the ad is true and sKerry is the dishonest and dishonorable one? Seems to me that's entirely relevant to presidential politics? I can't recall Johnny Mc publicly calling for his good buddy sKerry to call off his dogs regarding the unfounded AWOL charges against Bush (except very late in the day).
One thing I haven't heard pointed out is the sKerry was smart enough, when he cut and ran from Vietnam, to make sure that each of the crewman on his boat got a transfer out of the Swiftboat squadron. That, plus the money he's thrown at them over the past 30 years to support his various election campaigns, seems plenty motive for most of his crew to tell their war stories with a pro-sKerry spin.
"I'm curious: has McPain ever called for any Dim condemnation of making an issue of W's National Guard service?"
Not in this world or the one after.
mccain is a democrat masquerading as a Republican.
As far as Mccain pretending to gampaign for President Bush; anytime mccain pats you on the back he is only feeling for a soft spot to stick the knife.
I woulf feel more comfortable having mccain for an enemy than I would having him for a friend.
Judging by the reactions, these ads are hurting kerry very badly.
The democrats are going all out to neutralize them.
They even had Senator john mccain break his cover prematurely.

Senator McCain,
What is it that you don't like about the Swiftboat Vet's advertisement?
Are you in a position to question ANYTHING those vets have to say about Kerry?
Are you upset that the ad is effective?
Did Kerry promise you a job if he's elected?
If you had been on any of those swiftboats working with Kerry, or in his command, wouldn't you feel qualified to assess his performance?
Do you approve of Kerry's behavior after returning from Vietnam?

Military service doesn't make me any more (or less) American than anyone else. I had only meant to make the point that no one serves without occasionally stepping on a few toes.
During an exit briefing a Navy Admiral told me I was the most dangerous man he had ever met. Not because I ever did anything wrong. Just the opposite. He told me some mountains were never meant to be climbed and I not only climbed them, but had the people under me believing they could climb the mountains too, and they did. That's what he found so dangerous. Oddly, I thought that was my job. Sometimes we rub people the wrong way and never know exactly why. The wide array of opinions from veterans serving with and around John Kerry are perplexing. Something more is at play here then his service while in Viet Nam.
As for you not serving and having an opinion on the article, go for it. It's American!

Kerry's Vietnam campaign opened wounds first.I guess McCain thinks Republicans have to abide by a higher standard -- but just what that could be remains mysterious. :') I mean, it ain't a very high bar that the Dims set...
"As it is, none of these individuals served on the boat (Kerry) commanded." [McCainiac]
I guess the doctor who applied the official bandaid on Kerry's official splinter wound saw nothing significant because he wasn't riding on the same boat. Makes so much sense, I think a straight jacket is in order.
McCain dishonered his country by foisting CFR on us. You can't author legislation to curtail free speech and be anything but a traitor. He shat on the Constitution. Whatever honorable things he has done in the past have been flushed by his own hand.
