Should we be critical of Keyes any more than than we should be critical of Ballantine? ONE MORE TIME: I am not being critical of Alan Keyes; I resent Dick Cheney being used to justify Alan Keyes doing something that he himself said wasn't right in 2000.
This is not my state; they can run whoever they want.

I remember back in the 2000 campaign, when rumors circulated that Cheney would "pick himself" for VEEP. He denied he was in consideration, yet ended up being the nominee.
The point is, in politics, you never know what the future will bring. A person could make an honest statement about their future in politics, and, lo and behold, do the opposite. So what? It's not unprincipled. It's politics.

...I resent Dick Cheney being used to justify Alan Keyes doing something that he himself said wasn't right in 2000. I believe operative expression is "Well, if you want to play that way...." There is nothing wrong with a person who opposes a changing the rules (written or unwritten) taking advantage of the rule change if it occurs despite his opposition.

(If Kerry becomes President, nothing bad will happen for which he won't have an excuse.)
