No, but I would have preferred to leave the flip-floppers with the Kerry campaign.

That Keyes should be supported in his bid for the junior senate seat from Illinois. But that may be too logical for you.If he runs, he should be supported. And part of me hopes he runs, because it will make for a very interesting campaign.
Another part of me will be disappointed if he does, because I felt "carpetbagging" behavior was wrong for Hillary, and if it's wrong for the Dems, it's also wrong for the GOP. I wouldn't like it in my own state, although I'm not an Illinois resident and can't speak for them.
Dr. Keyes also seemed to think that running in a different state was wrong and unconstitutional when Hillary did it - I'm waiting to see how he justifies it for himself, if indeed he does run. I'm afraid it will appear that his principles are not as deeply held as he claims and his fans believe.

Yep - should help turnout for Bush. But, you're right - not much chance for Keyes. I'm curious about why Alan would want to move to IL, put himself through this, and add another lost election to his record. Something tells me it's not just a process of throwing the assistance to Bush. There must be something about the lure of the stump and media attention, along with the ability to add to coffers. No matter, I'm glad he's willing.

OUTSTANDING !!! Dr. Keyes was my choice for Sec of State.Do YOU want to negotiate against him?

Something tells me it's not just a process of throwing the assistance to Bush. There must be something about the lure of the stump and media attention, along with the ability to add to coffers. A cynic would say that he needs a way of getting significant attention periodically, or he will no longer be able to command those large speaking fees (not to mention the donations to his web-based activist groups) and might have to get a regular job.
They're debating now on Fox whether or not he's a sacrificial lamb for the GOP or will elevate the Illinois Senate race to the national level.
To: TomasUSMC
Bottom line, Keyes puts Illinois in play. The dims will have to spend time and money here. The race will definitely go national, especially if the RNC make room for Keyes to speak at their convention and Pres. Bush campaigns for him.
The only thing I am worried about is the number and format of the debates. Keyes should demand no fewer than three.

I'm not sure about is, and I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that Keyes is going to decide against running.

The dims will have to spend time and money here. The other way around, I think. Obama has about $10 million in the bank, which is about $10 million more than Keyes. He won't need Kerry to campaign for him, he's pretty well known already after all the hoopla in a heavily Democratic state. If anything, the GOP will have to pump money and time and effort into the state. And I don't see them doing that for a losing effort.

...I have a feeling that Keyes is going to decide against running...Maybe, T. Let's hope he wasn't lurking on FR, tonight. Could you imagine how disheartened you'd be, coming to somewhere that should be an online refuge, filled with friends, and finding it infested with backstabbers who cast the worst possible aspersions on your every move?
