Hate to re-open the Kerry-shotgun-hunting can of worms, but check out the whole quote: “I go out with my trusty 12-gauge double-barrel, crawl around on my stomach. I track and move and decoy and play games and try to outsmart them. You know, you kind of play the wind. That's hunting.”
Decoys? Using decoys to hunt deer in Mass. is all sorts of illegal. Not that anybody needed more evidence that the guy is full of BS, and I don't mean buckshot.
50% of what he says is to win over whatever crowd he's talking to. And half of it is written by his speech writers. The other half is ad lib. It's the ad libs that kill him because he winds up saying ridiculous things. Like his favorite Red Sox player (I don't even remember who he said it was, but it was someone who never played for the Sox).

Crawl on his stomach? I have hunted deer in fairly tight woods for many years and have never heard of anyone crawling on their stomach to stalk deer. Now geese thats a different matter, on your back or stomach and decoys in a field is spot on but you wouldn't be moving around or really care about the wind direction. What an idiot.

No, the one I'm thinking of was a Hispanic name. It was a combination of two different players---the first name of one and the last name of another. And one of them never played for the Sox.

Yes, and he said his CURRENT favorite Red Soxer is none other than MANNY ORTIZ (or Pedro Wakefield...who knows?).
He claimed that his favorite current player was 'Manny Ortiz'.
I'm no Boston fan but it's my understanding that:
1) There's an 'Ortez' on the team but his first name isn't 'Manny'.
2) There's a 'Manny' on the team but his last name is neither 'Ortiz' nor 'Ortez'.
From all indications, kerry's a total fraud when it comes to being a fan of major league baseball in general and the Red Sox in particular.

It would be interesting to know what hunting licenses,if any,Kerry has had and in what years he had them.
The one you mention NEVER having played for the Sox was his so called "favorite" player while growing up, Eddie Yost, who spent his PLAYING career with the Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers, and the first year Los Angeles Angels.
Yost has been a COACH and INTERIM MANAGER for the Red Sox, but never a player.
