NEW YORK -- Satirist-commentator Al Franken will return to his TV roots next month when his radio show begins appearing on cable's Sundance Channel.
Beginning Sept. 7, ``The Al Franken Show,'' heard live each weekday from noon to 3 p.m. Eastern on Air America Radio, will go on display in a one-hour edition on Sundance each night at 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m., executives at both networks told The Associated Press today.
The ``Franken'' TV hour is currently scheduled through the November election, but all parties voiced hope the show would continue on Sundance indefinitely.
``It would be nice if it were a permanent home,'' Franken said.
A writer-performer who helped launch NBC's ``Saturday Night Live'' three decades ago, Franken in recent years has been more identified as a left-leaning political humorist whose best-selling books include ``Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right.''
He became a talk-show host when Manhattan-based Air America signed on in March as a response to the mostly conservative world of talk radio. At Air America, Franken joined a roster of other liberal personalities including actress-comedian Janeane Garofalo, radio veteran Randi Rhodes and Lizz Winstead, a co-creator of ``The Daily Show.''
The Air America network includes stations in 17 markets that include New York, Miami, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Anchorage, Alaska, and, starting next week, San Diego. It is also heard on the XM and Sirius satellite radio networks, as well as through the Internet on streaming audio.

I do enjoy the Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo, though...
Isn't the Sundance channel run or set up by that Robert Redford person? This gives me another reason to avoid it.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......
Well...I'm getting channel 6013 on my dish. Its the All Elvis, all the time channel.

I'm sure that dozens of fans will tune in, giving the Sundance channel its highest ratings to date.
No,no,no, it said "stations in 17 markets..." inviting the reader to think there were lots and lots of stations. When, in fact, there could be just 17 stations, total.
I wonder is President Bush still supports the CFR Bill that he signed a couple years ago?
But, what concerns me the most is if the FCC will harass Al Frankin as much as they will Rush Limbaugh, Mike Savage, Mike Reagan and Sean Hanity in the month prior to the election?
Just another way around campaign finance reform for this election. It like Air America radio will die after the election no matter who wins.
Yes, see what Campaign Finance Reform has wrought? Ordinary issue oriented individuals like the NRA or Right to Lifers are muted while Al Franken, George Soros, MoveOn, and 527's run rampant through our political system. I knew this would happen - where Republicans follow the law and the liberals break it.
Actually so do I. It's always funny to see B and C list celibs screwing up at poker.

Apparently, it's cheaper than a standard test pattern.
Hey, maybe he'll get an audience of more than 13 people.
