Frankly, I am planning to run for office in two years. And I will be a warm and engaging conservative.

You must give him props for wearing an American Flag pin on his lapel. I didn't think he had the gonads to do it, but apparantly, he does.

I've been waiting for somebody to mention that! LOL! He copied that from GWB too. He's been wearing that American Flag on his lapel for several months or more.

Being in Liberal Wisconsin now for 7 months i just dont know what to think anymore. People up here are nuts! Kerrys speech will play very well in this state. Many here tonight are calling me Troll for that opinion , but i have been a freeper for years and i think i can express an opinon once in a while. It may be wrong but i get around this state quite a bit and have gotten a feel for the politics.

You know, about all this Vietnam stuff . . . my sense of it is that the country has spent 30 years trying to put Vietnam behind it, and the spectre of its return does not make them feel good. It excites post-baby-boomers who marched in the streets at the time . . . but a lot of people are just turned off. To me, personally, it is emblematic of the Democrats' penchant for living in the past (i.e. high taxes, simplistic big government solutions, the welfare state, etc.). No new ideas. And they may profess idealism and patriotism, but in reality they don't want the "hate America first" mentality of the Vietnam era to be over.

"Isn't he the guy that gave Joe Wilson's book "5 stars"?"

Rather is the man who said (with a straight face) that Clintoon was "basically an honest man at heart".

They didn't mention Dukakis in the In Memoriam section of this Convention.

Did they at least mention The US Constitution, for the way Ashcroft has been allegedly trampling it?

If you haven't found out it, Kerry gave CPR/mouth-to-mouth to his daughters' pet hamster.

I hope the repub convention has more viewers and clearly defines Bush's goals for the next four years. If it does, Bush's convention should easily defeat this part-negative Bushbashing, part-chicken in every pot, part-Kerry was in Vietnam, and part America is dying convention.

Home run my ass. It was an ok speech. He loses points for lack of originality (help is on the way, how many times has THAT been used?) and the fact he was sweating like a pig.

Some also vote based on being attacked at the wallet. I look at a 300 dollar tax refund and the 30k job I'm losing. Nice refund. Can I have my job back that I'm losing because of your other policies mr. president.. Oh, sorry, forgot. Government intervention that cost me my job is ok. Government intervention to protect my job is bad because the ivory tower types can't feed their greed by screwing me via Bush's policy on trade. Oh, and almost forgot that Bush isn't responsible for his own trade policy..

America sees this and gets it. If Bush and the rest of this party doesn't and soon, It won't be because nobody warned about it or tried to set it right. It will be because people drunk on power and greed thought like a certain King did a few hundred years ago, right until we decided to make tea en masse.

The best "commercial" right now is watching President Bush's acceptance speech from 2000 on CSPAN2.

I'm watching it and it's all you need to realize how short Kerry came up tonight. I don't mean as a partisan, but rather in term of humor, vision, beliefs, direction, etc. Kerry did really poorly in comparison.

He vows to make me safer and to kill terrorists. But he won't go to war unless he has to, which I guess means, until we are attacked AGAIN.

He didn't say that we would go to war again even if attacked. Who is to say that he wouldn't just lob a couple of cruise missles somewhere and be done with it?

It's hard to fight terrorism. There is no sponsoring flag. There are no uniforms or even a specific part of the globe to hit. Islamist militants are all over, and the direct attackers are usually blown up in their handiwork.

Thus President Bush had a very difficult decision to make at the time. He decided to declare that every nation who harbored terrorism was "against us." I am proud he did. (I would even go back to the oxcart for transportation if he could keep his doctrine going and include Saudi Arabia.)

"President Kerry" would never make any move that the sophisticated Europeans didn't like. He doesn't have the cojones to put his political career on the line for the safety of the American people.
