The speech was pure unadulterated Chinese food.
Is that for tomorrow??
Do they have so much contempt for people more "right" than they are that they believe this filth is salable to them? The people they hope to to peel off in the middle to get a plurality? They are disgustingly amazing...
On FOX - Jerry Stiller? Earth to Jerry.....Rambling Wreck from Hollywood Tech
Bob Dole didn't have put on this kind of show either.
REALITY is setting in with the DEMS on MSNBC.
ANDREA MITCHELL and some other guy are already talking about how his speech lacked real content and how certain parts of his speech are going to haunt him.
MATTHEWS mentioned how he could not believe that Kerry would go out and say he is going to raise taxes.
Scarburough is showing his true colors. WHY he was not good in Congress. He thinks that the majority of the US would not have a problem with paying more taxes. He's lost it.
EVEN MATTHEWS JUST SAID THAT TAX CUTS DID NOT CAUSE DEFICITS.
God has a great sense of humor.
That's not the message on this issue and not all outsourcing steals jobs. Companies will often hire locals in foreign countries to obtain resources in those countries, along with US citizens.
The Bush admin should do something about the mass outsourcing. The campaign needs to also point out that the government does not completely control companies, that's socialism. Socialism is of course the goal of this democrat party.
On the plus side for Kerry. I think he projected strength, on a visceral level, and that he would be nobody's patsy. Also, on a visceral level, Kerry never got out of the box that imprisons his persona, no real warmth, no humor, no light tough, but rather one that exudes a certain angry undertow, hectoring, the Calvinist John Edwards redux.
On substance, it degraded into a fairly stock Dem demagogue speech - so much to offer, and just raise the taxes a bit on the rich, and lower them on everybody else, and cut the deficit, and it will all pencil. The freedom from Saudi oil bit of course was a ludicrous pipe dream, made slightly more ludicrous by Kerry's energy policy, but ludicrous in any event. The Western economic machine will run on Saudi oil as long as it is relatively cheap and available.
In the end it was an appeal to the base speech. I don't think Kerry succeeded in capturing that precious swing vote. The man still seems really not credible in his pie in the sky promises, and it is hard to just have hope via a package that is so remote and stern. One doesn't find hope when taking a shower where the water heater isn't working.
I suspect the Kerry bounce will be underwhelming. I think Bush if he sucks it up, can end up with a net plus out of the conventions, when both are over. And then Bush will have to face the demon hectoring Calvinist in debates, in an odd wawy, as the kinder, gentler Methodist, even while the kinder and gentler one has this habit of handling perps more in a Texas than a New England way.
It will be an interesting election. We live in interesting times.
And that's the way I see it, disjointed as it may be.
PS: The stem cell issue worries me a bit. We baby boomers want to live forever, and most of us don't buy the idea that their use is off limits, particularly if it seems to interfere with our sentient longevity. One might not like it, but that's the way it is.

He did, actually, quite a few times -- just not when he was actually speaking. Often when he paused for "effect", or when the crowd acted up and he gave them a second (but never long enough, he stepped on his applause too much), he'd smile and look goofy until he started talking again.
My impression is John F*ckin' sucked. The speech was too long, it lacked a theme and he never told us how his Administration would be different from that of President Bush. It was long on generalities, dwelled on anecdotes, short on humor, and sound me-too Republican. Apparently Kerry wants to frame the election as contest between a real Republican and a Republican Lite. Which means he will lose. The simple rule is if people are given a choice between the genuine article and the pretend one, they will choose the genuine one every time. Its human nature. What I'm most struck by is that Kerry is a liberal and could not find it in himself to tell a national audience, "I'm a liberal and proud of it." He did not once mention either the "L" word or the "P" word for that matter this evening. And he wants the election to be about big ideas. Yeah, he'll win over people by thinking if he pretends to be a Republican, their hearts will melt for him. What I think killed this speech is its utter lack of honest, heartfelt sincerity. It was all about telling the American people what he thinks they wanted to hear. And that my friends, is his downfall: Kerry will NEVER be a leader.
Feel better all: See W's acceptance from 2000 on CSPAN2 right now.

The only people sleeping across the street from the WH in Lafayette Park are anti-war folks, lunatics opposed to extraterrestrial/zionist control of the US government, and drunk guys who look like Michael Moore...
