"No, they truly believe they are going to sway people with their warm/fuzzy crap."

Don't underestimate how successful it could end up being (lucky for us it wasn't shown in the next hour). IMO, the film was BS, but well made and manipulative BS, and it will play well.

I keep thinking of Dennis Leary's joke:

Dennis - "When we live in New York, we're proud of it! We wear it on our arms like a badge, because we know we can die at any moment in a million different ways!"

Nam vet - "I went to Viet Nam!"

Dennis - "Yeah, well I live in New York!"

Nam vet - "Really?"

I can't believe that the campaign screwed the pooch by having the video on before the networks turned on the coverage.

Wow. GREAT point!!

Did you happen to see the graphic that was hanging up during the lull? It was a picture of an African American woman with the caption...(Paraphrasing) My name is Jonelle Smith and I was not allowed to vote in the 2000 election. Please don't let that happen again."

What scumbags.

I know... I really hate to say ... but that guy is weird looking.

Now we have to listen to Max Cleland. Oh, this is harder than I thought possible.

Jim Rassman said Kerry nearly lost his life in Vietnam? Wow! I didn't realize filming battle reenactments was that dangerous. Oh wait! It is if you keep injuring yourself for the camera.

Kerry trots out James Rasmussen regularly.

It's sad to see a former Ranger selling his soul to Kerry.
.
Rasmussen met Kerry in a club in Vietnam and hung out with him-for one month.
They went on one mission together.

Page 106, " John F Kerry, The Official Biography By The Boston Globe Reporters Who Know Him Best "

Rasmussen's swift boat was following Kerry's, in a flotilla of 5 cruising a narrow canal.
" Rasmussen was eating a chocolate chip cookie in the pilothouse, when his craft was rocked by an explosion."

He was thrown overboard and stayed underwater for as long as he could, avoiding enemy fire.

ALL the swift boats turned to rescue him, Kerry's boat was the closest, Rasmussen swam over, grabbed netting and started to pull himself up.
In his weakened condition he was struggling.
Kerry , bleeding from the quarter inch wound in his arm, reached down and gave him a hand.

Rasmussen only weighed 135 lbs at the time.

The part of the video where it is shot from the water of the swift boat coming around the bend in the river to save the guy.

Tell me that wasn't reenacted.

Big mistake politically injecting Vietnam into this. That's not going to help him with the middle.

Right. I think the RNC ought to go after this Vietnam stuff. It's obvious this is all Kerry has got. He's got nothing else to show for his life except this. Patethic. Take this away from him. Bring out eye witnesses that point out what a phoney he is. Do to the dems what they are trying to do to Bush - go after their opponent's strongest point and whittle away at it. Don't dwell on it but get the jabs in.

All I did was the HTML to emulate the film poster (which hangs on my wall over by the bar). I'll see what I can do about publishing the html code so anyone can use it.

Some bright freeper mind coined the phrase upthread, I hope someone else will point him or her out for proper credit.

They played the identical film last night, too. It's a nicely done film, but there's really no need to show it twice.

They have a huge shortage of material, whether it's films or music or even half-decent speeches. I can almost feel sorry for them.

(As I wrote this , Max Cleland is coming, and the newsroom music is playing afor about the 600th time today).
