One of my daughters is there now. She loves France and visits as often as she can.

I prefer to never go there again or purchase anything French.

gosh! This has been hashed out on these pages for the last 3 weeks. Once and for all, his ex-wife was not the woman who stayed with him during his cancer. He met her afterward (read the first book). He is totally dedicated to his bike which doesn't leave a lot of time for a wife but she knew that when she married him. He adores his kids and is with them whenever he is able to be. He said the other day that when his cycling career is over, he will just be a cancer survivor and a father and that is enough for him.

Except, perhaps, his wife and three small children that this bicycle-pedaler dumped.

BTW, he gave up his spot on the US Olympic team so he could spend more time with his kids.

I wonder if these morons would still be whining if Armstrong was dating Ann Coulter or Laura Ingram?

As one who is trying to survive cancer, it's almost inconceivable that not only did he do so, but also found the will to train long and hard enough to repeatedly win the most physically demanding sporting event in the world.

THAT, my friend, takes more strength, heroism, or whatever you want to call it than 99.9% of us will ever have...and if Clinton were to have pulled that off, I'd have to respect him just as much for having done so. Regardless of whom he might have left his wife for (if that's even true), it's irrelevant in light of the enormity of his personal accomplishments.

Karl Rove should get Armstrong to address the Republican Convention.

Another Texan defeats the French.

I am (somewhat) surprised that the French public didn't attack/sabotage his final ride by jumping in front of him or blocking the street.

Actually the tour De France is open to all nationalities and the French didn't really mind about Lance winning -- he is a hero and has won there since 99. The only folks opposing him were GERMANS

Well, that's an entirely different matter! Seriously, though.... Bicycle racing is not exactly my thing but Armstrong has beaten the Euros at their own game, in a unique fashion in that no one in the one hundred years of the event has won it six times in a row. I'm disappointed in his selection of Sheryl Crow as girlfriend as she seems to be a rather dim stereotypical lefty, but nobody's perfect!

Gawd, can you hear yourselves? Armstrong didn't fight against the French -- he is an internationally acclaimed, participating in a sporting event against folks from a myriad of nationlities -- just becuase it's French doesn't mean the competitors fight against the French. Dos the French open purely consist of matches against French opponents? Does Wimbledon consist of matches against English opponents only?

First of all, I was referring to the seemingly millions of French citizens rooting enthusiastically for him to lose, not his racing opponents. And secondly, I was just kidding around.

Lighten up.

It's not ALL the French people and ALL the German people, it's the MEDIA and who they put in front of their cameras or in print!!!! We were welcomed in Germany and France in February 2004 and I'd get on a plane to both countries in a heartbeat.

You GO Texas Girl!

That's just the word -- SEEMINGLY. There were many who supported him.

There are many folks who want Schumacher to stop winning grand Prixs because he's too good, too dominating. BUt that doesn't mean people stop admiring him. Ditto for Lance.

"First cut" is a remake of a Rod Stewart hit from the late 70's.

All your Tour de France *are* belong to us.

"I don't know if it is commone practice to divvy out the prize money but I thought it rather big of Lance."

Any winner who is also a big star with a big paycheck and endorsements would be expected to throw his winnings in the pot. If a nobody won the Tour they would certainly be expected to keep the dough, but once they start making the big bucks they had better take care of their boys if they want to be respected within their profession.
