The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

Earlier on Fox, Jim Angle mentioned as an aside that when he was traveling into the studio this morning he saw that they pulled over a tanker truck and were examing it carefully.

Just think, If Al Gore were President, we wouldn't be having any of these alerts at all!

I don't find it odd that Ridge would suggest that everyone go about their business. A large part of terrorism is to have a constant threat. If Ridge had not had this update to Homeland Security, and an event occured....that would be far worse than letting people decide for themselves their daily plans for work, etc.

If I were working in NY I would heed the instructions from freeperfromnj...but still go about my daily activity. BTW I travel and live in-between NY and DC so this threat is very close to home.

As an example...last week-end when there was the tanker off-shore in the Delaware Bay that was thought to have a bomb....I could see it will binoculars from the beach!!! There has also been stepped-up activity along the coast with regard to the Coast Guard and fighter jets.

I believe that to be well-informed is the best defence. Make preparations for your family. Other than that, worrying cannot change the situation.

It is understandable he doesn't want AQ to set the tone for keeping workers and pedestrians home every other day with new threats. Then they have control of our economy in that geographic area (kinda like get your troops out of here or your people will be beheaded next...).

We're not talking one individual, we're talking huge office buildings with thousands of workers who may be exposed to God knows what. The potential for carnage here is huge.

This methodology will work for them until we start to round them up and isolate them. Until then, it's not going to be pretty folks no matter what city you live in. Thousands of them among us (and some still entering illegally) with illegal weapons, capable of slaughtering us where we work, play and live. Political correctness concerning those here to destroy us is absurd. Thank God we have TM as the great resource it is to us.

I should have been watching Fox post-conference coverage but since I'm a big fan of Steve Emerson I switched to MSNBC. They had Larry Johnson on with Emerson. What a first class jerk. He was trying to downplay the threat and said DHS should have let law enforcement agencies quietly handle it. Complained about Ridge crying overstating the threat and that it wasn't that serious because the intel didn't actually say that the threat was imminent and that they ahd a bomb "ready". Steve Emerson of course, set him straight.

Great. You know, I have had the internet since last September when my promotion allowed me to add it to my budget. (My girls had been grousing that school projects were demanding more and more internet use.) I started pecking around conservative websites and actually found FR through a Drudge link. Started reading threads and was hopelessly lost! When the Treat Matrix threads started, I became a loyal reader. Hats off to Just Piper and all others that have perpetuated these threads. You guys are so often so far ahead of what the rest of us could possibly get from any media source or other website. I've taken a lot of the advice given on these threads regarding preparation and I can't tell you how that has helped raise my comfort zone. I'd much rather be proactive than in the dark and reactive. This a.m. when I turned on the news and saw all that was happening, it was a quick run to the computer and FR was on top (if not ahead) of everything. Thanks again to all who dedicate so much of their time and effort here and on other FR threads. I don't know if you realize how much it means to those of us who might otherwise feel that we're left hanging out here trying to go about our daily business in extraordinaly dangerous times. Thanks again and God Bless every one of you. O.k., enough emoting. Off to my nephew's birthday party. I bought him spy goggles (you can see in the dark). Maybe too much time on the TM? ;) Not.

As always, you are damned if you do...and damned if you don't. Ridge did the correct thing today.

I just wonder how soon until Kerry/Edwards and the Dems claim that Bush is trying to get attention away from them by upping the threat level.

I just enlarged and sharpened it in Photoshop.

Very interesting. There is a box like you see in maps that focus in on a certain location.

In fact, the blotch is simply a smaller version of the big map to the left of Osama.

The map is of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Hamas Has $25 Million Invested in Real Estate in the US

00:39 Jul 30, '04 / 12 Av 5764 Despite efforts aimed at closing U.S.-based Islamic ‘charities’ raising money for terrorists the Hamas terrorist organization still has $25 million invested in U.S. real estate projects, according to a report in Globes.

The report, based on official U.S. sources, adds that the money for the real estate investments came from Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries and was earmarked for financing Hamas’s terrorist activity in Israel. The investments in the US were procured in the 1990s, under the leadership of Mousa Abu Marzook. Gaza-born Marzook lived in the U.S. during the 80s when, according to the Anti-Defamation League he lectured to a training session of terror recruits at a June 1990 conference in Kansas, before moving to Jordan in 1991 and becoming head of Hamas’ ‘political bureau.’ While in Jordan he is suspected of planning numerous terrorist attacks, including the April 1994 bombings in Afula and Hadera.

The information on the Hamas real estate assets is the result of the FBI’s investigation of Egyptian citizen Soliman Biheiri, who brokered most of the Hamas investments and was imprisoned in January 2004 for transferring millions of dollars to Al Qaeda and other Islamic terror movements. During its investigation of Biheiri, the FBI uncovered detailed information regarding additional Islamic groups funneling Saudi Arabian money from America to terror groups throughout the world.

Hi, JustPiper!

August 5th was mentioned on Algernon's website ... here is a link to brainy history.com for August 5th http://www.brainyhistory.com/days/august_5.html

Also, 15 days added to August 1st, today, is August 16th: and here is brainy history's account for August 16th: http://www.brainyhistory.com/days/august_16.html (looks like not too much happened August 16th in history.

I'm not real convinced that Al Quada is logical, as we know logic ... but, anyway, this is the first link I've posted. I learned about Brain history from TM last week ... interesting!
