Are Terrorists Passing Messages Right Under Our Noses?
07/22/2004 | Greywolf

Posted on 07/22/2004 5:34:32 PM PDT by GreyWolf

I post this personal encounter to ascertain whether any other Freepers have had similar experiences or have heard of anyone observing such behavior as I describe below.

Last week, my wife and I were driving home from our place of employment in Central Maryland. We always take US 29 N to US 40 E to the outer suburbs of Baltimore. As we passed under the only enclosed footbridge on US 29 at Columbia, I noticed a female Asian or Middle Eastern person on the footbridge appearing to stare South at the traffic passing underneath her. She was not moving but ewas just kneeling there supposedly watching for something. It seemed out of place at the exact instant we passed under her but I quickly dismissed the encounter as merely curious.

As we continued north approximately 2-3 miles, we noticed a bicycle parked on the shoulder ahead. As we drew closer we saw an unmistakable ME type crouched down behind the guardrail also watching traffic approaching from the south. Now they have my attention! I made it a point to continue straight home and upon arrival called the Howard County non-emergency police number to report the observation. They seemed unusually interested asking for descriptions and whether I had seen any cameras or binoculars. After about 10-15 minutes of grilling they thanked me for the information and related that they were going to send a car to "check it out". I hung up feeling a little proud of myself for having done my civic duty and perhaps helping out in the WOT.

Today, exactly one week, almost to the minute, we were driving the same route. I did not notice the footbridge or whether anyone was stationed there but as we proceeded north about 1/2 mile beyond the bridge, the same ME male with the parked bicycle, this time was standing in the shoulder area of the highway except today he was signaling in a manner that I remember from my Navy days when the signalmen used to wig-wag converse with signalmen on other ships. I don't know who he was signaling. It could have been someone again on the footbridge or someone in a vehicle BUT HE WAS DEFINATELY SIGNALING someone.

Now my curiosity is peaked. I am a communications (and software) engineer working for a DoD contractor and I am aware that there are ears listening very closely to every corner of the rf spectrum. My question is this:

1. Are these people likely up to something underhanded and

2. Have they resorted to communicating via non-wired or non-transmitted means in order to avoid detection?

Smile,
If you are from the DC area and you are a civil engineer then you might recall when a tanker truck hit the outer loop overpass of the northbound 270 spur. Though we were told no damage was done. The bridge was replaced shortly thereafter. My father is a traffic engineer and I think that he would differ with you on the integrity of the bridges around here. They aren't replacing the Wilson bridge simply because of traffic.
Howerver having said all that I don't think what GW and I saw had anything to do with the bridges but with something to do with passing messages.
Regards,
Boiler Plate

That is pretty much the same time I saw them. I didn't see them today but I will go by on Sunday.

I did not know that.

It was so big I initially thought it was a real plane...but surely it was just a remote-controlled plane as low as it was and as many circles around the tanks it did.

You can put cameras on those things and use them for surveillance.

Darn that spell checker anyway! You select the correct spelling, but then if you move the mouse too soon it changes your correction and gives another word. Could be VERY embarrassing! Thanks for the sense of humor!

If by chance it "was" a light plane,it "could" have been a Pipeline Flyer.

They'll fly low along the pipelines looking for leaks and sometimes check out tank batteries, etc.,pretty closely.

to no furniture-bare necessities according to my husband.

Druggies. Orlando is the crossroads.

Asian-looking is a little weird, but there are plenty of Peruvians of Asian descent.

I believe that when we're to the point of making it illegal to take photographs of public landmarks, we have traveled past that point of "too much".

So take pics of public landmarks and see if anything happens.

BTW, I've taken pics in East Berlin. Got yelled at by a teacher and had my own picture taken. At least the Stasi kept their distance. Loved the trenchcoat though.

Richard Reed the "shoe bomber" was white.

If you think Reid was white, you need to expand your horizons.

He was a Brit of Jamaican extraction.

Which makes my point even further. ["So how can you tell a terrorist by a glance?"]

I drive an area with a lot of oil wells and want to take pictures for fun,but don't because of the trouble it could bring and don't want to freak people out.

I would imagine you reported it. Time to buy or carry a digital camera and record this for the authorities.

No I am not an engineer. Iwas replying to post #112. Yes I do remember that bridge being struck by Montgomery Mall. The bridge was replaced not for structural reasons but because of design flaws which made the bridge too low in the right lane. The truck in question was loaded incorrectly(too high) as well as the paving of the road brought the road surface up, and consequently the bridge was lower than was marked (22'). I also remember a foot bridge collapsing on 695 and crushing several cars. Also a tanker carrying a combustible liquid driving off an overpass on 95 not far from where we are talking about.Maybe a month or two ago. The integrity of the bridges is another issue entirely. They are a mess due to overuse and lack of maintanance. When I drive though NYC and see two by fours being used to brace some of the overpasses it is indeed frightening. Our tax dollars at work. And the only other reason besides traffic I know of to replace the WW Bridge is to raise it for ship traffic. Remember the idiot who held up traffic for a day threatening to jump off of there? I hope they can prevent this in the future. Maybe the Asian Girl was contemplating the same.

By things being out of place. By people being where they are not supposed to be. When a person drives the same route day after day and all of sudden notices something different, one has to ask why.

MEs still deserve extra attention.

And I'd still like to know why you thought Reid was white.

Well he sure ain't black. Looks more like Pete Townsend than Bob Marley. But he defintley doesn't look like an Arab.

By things being out of place.

Someone standing by the road is out of place? You've got your work cut out for you.

You must live in a very rural area.

Nobody said he looked black. But he certainly didn't look white and yet you said he was white. I was just curious if you had even seen a picture of him. There was one pic in particular that he looked like an ME.

Nope, don't live in a rural area. Grew up in Rockville, MD and live in Orlando.

But I do notice patterns and things out of place.

What if you saw a group of construction workers on the side of the road and all were wearing hard hats, reflective vests, jeans and were Mexican except for one guy who was Asian and had no hat and vest and had a bike.

What would you notice?

I'd notice a guy who's about to get his bike stolen!

Seriously, that still doesn't sound like an Al Queda plot either. Although Rt 29 is a big highway now, it still has at grade crossings all up and down. People by that road all the time. But Ok, maybe I'm wrong and this is the big one.

Orlando sounds nice! I am RMHS Rocket myself. Grew up in College Gardens.
