Breaking on Fox... Turkish Vessel being escorted by Coast Guard. It had apparently been watched before the threat was relayed.
It's one guy.
However, he's in constant communication with a sort of air traffic control facility.....there's one that looks like a miniature airport tower at Cape Henlopen near Lewes, DE.
As to the refusal of search, I'd give the Captain ten minutes to agree to a search, or, if he doesn't want to agree, to allow the crew to abandon ship. At the end of ten minutes, a heavily armed boarding party would arrive. If there was any resistance to their coming aboard, sink the ship. If the boarding party comes aboard, and there is any problem in the seach, shoot the problem.
FNC says that the ship was in the port & the Captain refused to let the FBI search it saying that it will expload, so they are taking the ship out to sea to inspect it.
When the pilot took the Queen Mary 2 out to sea from NYC several weeks ago (we were on board) the bridge was guarded by 3 gentleman from the coastguard in full body armor with assault rifles. I took the opportunity to thank them :-)
Including intel a Ship's captain that says he has a bomb onboard but won't let the Coast Guard search????
....truly weird....
I agree with you Dog, messages need to be sent.
Fox claims ship has been tracked due to intelligence received on it. Why was it allowed to get so close?
Yikes! Let me on THAT boat!
Ahhhh... that makes more sense now...
The Master of the vessel and the Captain are the same I believe.
Ship's name is " Jacob Tomaloo". Docked at the Port of Phili this morning. Boarded at the Port by Coast Guard, based on previous concerns for this particular ship. Captain refused to allow search of certain areas and threatened explosions. Team of FBI officials on the way to go over ship off shore.
Also a train explosion in Turkey killed 70 this morning.
Relax, you are out of danger, the ship has been moved out into the Atlantic now. Assume a worst-case scenario, a nuke is on board and goes off. It is too far from the coast for the blast to have a severe effect, the main concern would be fallout. Radiation exposure would be fairly minimal(you have to factor both intensity and length of exposure), so the biggest risk is ingestion of fallout. Just throw out exposed food, wash off packaging/containers, and then the food that was sealed should be fine. You do have bottled water, correct?
Read through some of those nuke survival pages and you'll see that other than for the immediate blast area, a nuke attack is very survivable. And of course, there is a 99.9999% likelihood that nothing will happen.
Actually, the term "master" could legitimately refer to the individual in charge of navigation, at least under British naval nomenclature. The master was/is a warrant officer serving the captain. At least that's what I read a while back when looking at various historical ranking structures.
Inappropriate post.
Fallout? Yeah, if you're a fish.
There's going to be exactly zero fallout in the US from a nuke exploding off the East Coast, unless there happens to be a strong low or tropical system offshore creating an onshore flow. Prevalining winds are from the West.
Which means it's either affiliated with a terrorist group, or involved in drugs/arms trafficking, or both. Very few alternatives.
And very brazen to try for a U.S. port.
I'd put the chance there's an actual bomb on board at about .00001%
And there was a train stooped this morning from Philly..
You can take it. :)
