"I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat"
CIA: 9/11 Plotters Transited Iran, Govt Tie Unseen
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - About eight of the Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers passed through Iran before attacking the United States, but there is no sign of official Iranian complicity, the CIA (news - web sites)'s acting director said on Sunday.
We are the "Stotters" who make ourselves aware of the enemy who wishes to do us harm
Meet It!
Greet It!
Defeat It!
From spending years reading their plans for the destruction of the US
You cannot imagine the howls of protest when suddenly the pols declared the cold war to be "over" and that we were now allied with the CIS and we should welcome them into our ranks and allow them to train with our military for "mutual global concerns." They have seen the guts of our warfighting doctrine and the nuts and bolts of our best equipment. What did we get from them? Zilch that we really needed. Worse, they now know that on the chemical battlefield, their practice of training with actual chemical agents over the years, even though this leads to training fatalities, is far more sophisticated than our chemical doctrines.
ACTION IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Lebanon fires on Israeli planes
From correspondents in Beirut
July 21, 2004
LEBANESE army anti-aircraft batteries opened fire in the direction of Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier at low altitude twice over Beirut overnight, reporters and security sources said.
The fighter bombers caused supersonic booms at around 7.10pm local time (2.10am AEST), causing panic on the streets of the capital.
"Two Israeli fighter-bombers broke the sound barrier at very low altitude over Beirut," a senior Lebanese security source said.
"It is the first such supersonic bangs (over Beirut) in years, probably since the Israeli withdrawal" from southern Lebanon in 2000 after 22 years of occupation.
Lebanese army anti-aircraft batteries opened fire at the jets to the south of the capital, a senior security source said on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, two Israeli soldiers and a member of the Lebanese Shiite Muslim movement Hizbollah were killed during air raids and gun battles across the volatile Israel-Lebanon border.
Yesterday, a Hizbollah military commander was blown up in a Beirut car bomb.
Hizbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said the attack was carried out "either by Israeli hands that infiltrated into Lebanon with European, American or other foreign passports, or at the hands of local Lebanese agents".
A statement by a Sunni Muslim group called Jund Ash Sham said the bombing was part of a plan to eradicate Shiite "heresy", but the group's leader later denied any involvement and blamed Israel's Mossad spy agency.

The announcement over the loud speaker at Penn Station claimed there were wires down between Penn Station Newark. It affected all Amtrak and NJ Transit trains. I'm not sure about the Philly situation.
Rail Power Restored for N.J. Transit, Amtrak after Nightmare Commute
(New York-WABC, July 20, 2004) A power failure Tuesday stranded rush-hour commuters in sunbaked trains for up to an hour and delayed other passengers for hours at times, transit officials said.
The 4:30 p.m. outage involved Amtrak's power supply, but the problem engulfed thousands of riders of New Jersey Transit, which relies on Amtrak track, said Penny Bassett Hackett, a transit spokeswoman.
Five trains were stranded on the tracks, one of them for an hour, said Bassett Hackett.
"When there's no power, unfortunately, there's no air conditioning," she added.
Bassett Hackett said power was restored sometime after 5 p.m., but complications from the outage rippled throughout the entire system.
To get commuters to their destinations, NJ Transit buses cross-honored railroad passes, as did PATH and several private bus lines, Bassett Hackett said.
She said additional customer service personnel were sent to the Hoboken transit hub to help guide commuters through unfamiliar surroundings.
Bassett Hackett did not know the cause of the outage or its precise location.
Amtrak spokespeople said Tuesday night that part of the problem may have involved infrastructure built at the turn of the last century, infrastructure that may need.. and get a closer look now.

Actually yes, the Philadelphia Clocker goes from Philly to Newark and then to Penn Station.
I can't believe that you and I and Freeperfromnj haven't bumped into each other yet in Penn Station. Maybe we have. Perhaps FR should come up with some sort of a "pin" that would allow FReepers to recognize each other in passing.
When exactly does this to pertain to? I'm just curious since I hadn't seen this particular allegation before.
Security Cameras Installed On Staten Island Ferry
JULY 21ST, 2004
Staten Island Ferry passengers are being watched a little more closely.
High-tech security cameras have been installed in all seven Staten Island ferries and in both terminals. New federal regulations required the cameras.
The cameras were put in place last month to keep an eye on passengers and possibly prevent terrorist attacks.

"One Killed As Car Explodes at Tenn. Hotel"
Jul 21, 12:03 PM (ET)
By LUCAS L. JOHNSON II
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A sport utility vehicle exploded in a parking lot at Nashville's largest hotel, killing one male inside, and authorities said they suspected a homemade bomb was involved.
The explosion occurred late Tuesday about a half-mile from the main entrance of Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, and about 200 feet from a day care center, which was closed, said Jim Cavanaugh of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Police said the blast was felt miles away, and it left nothing but a shell of the SUV.
Investigators from the federal Joint Terrorism Task Force were at the scene, but FBI agent Doug Riggin said there was no reason to suspect terrorism."

GOOD! Cause that OBL + nuke in NYC shows the wake from the Staten Island Ferry departing.
