PARIS (Reuters) - France sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Sunday after he urged French Jews to emigrate immediately to Israel to escape what he called "the wildest anti-Semitism."
Branding Sharon's language "unacceptable," a French Foreign Ministry spokesman said Paris had demanded an explanation.
France, home to western Europe's biggest Jewish and Muslim communities, has been troubled by attacks on Jewish people and property in recent years, some of it blamed on youths of North African origin angered by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Sharon, who regularly calls on all the world's Jews to migrate to Israel, acknowledged in a speech to Jewish leaders in Jerusalem that the French government was making efforts to stem anti-Semitism. But he added that the threat was so grave that French Jews should head for Israel without delay.
"If I have to advise our brothers in France, I'll tell them one thing -- move to Israel, as early as possible. I say that to Jews all around the world, but there (in France) I think it's a must and they have to move immediately," Sharon said.
The French spokesman said: "We have been informed of comments made today by Sharon calling on the Jews of France to emigrate to Israel.
"We immediately made contact with the Israeli authorities to ask for an explanation of these unacceptable comments."
Some 600,000 Jews and five million Muslims form part of France's population of 60 million.
The French Interior Ministry registered 67 attacks on Jews or their property and 160 threats against Jews in the first quarter of this year compared with 42 attacks and 191 threats in the last three months of 2003.

I sure did'nt!
He made the addressing a group of Americans. It's been widely publicized. No one seems to have raised the "vulture question" at all.
One would think the money would come first for the French, but look at the situation. Have Jews taken over suburbs around Paris and other cities and made them dangerous for even the police to enter? Do the French fear daily muggings by Jews, and is a very disportunate amount of crime done by Jews? Are a large percentage of French Jews living on welfare, with huge employments rates? No, all that would be the French Muslims.
The Muslims are a net drag on France in everyway including financially, but the French tiptoe around that. Jews are a very strong net positive, but French anti-semitism is the old beast that always lurks in the shadows.
Actually, I believe that the french are willing to take the "net drag" on their economics of muslims within France, in order to keep on good relations with muslim countries, such as the former Iraq. While I have no doubt that French Jews are a financial boon to France domesticly, I'm sure that their financial ties to muslim countries generates far more profit.

"I have boycotted Perrier for several years because of the French government's again showing its historic cowardice and lack of morality. Since they refuse to fight world terrorism or the terrorists in their midst, I'm happy to be buying U.S. sparkling waters and other U.S. products."

I now refuse Pepsi whenever possible because I heard Dennis Prager say they refuse to sell in Israel. Coke apparently has no problem with Israel, at least not enough to sell their products there, so they get all my business.
SirL,
If you google 'Israel in the end times' you will get lots of links. Best two are Jeremiah 33:8, and Ezekiel 11:17. Both are about bringing the Jews home for end times from foreign lands. Both verses are preceeded by lengthy explanations about 'restoring the land of Israel to its former glory, and bringing back the people who were dispersed throughout the centuries to distant lands.'
I remember vividly, but not sure of the time frames now, the jets flown by Israel to pick up the 'lost tribe' members in Ethiopia to bring them back home. Maybe ten years ago? This is when I first heard about the prophesy that they would all be brought home. (all the lost tribes).
Also, two or three months ago on Free Republic there was a thread about bringing home a 'lost tribe' who are well established in India.
It all makes sense when reading and understanding the significance of the 2nd coming, and that Jerusalem is to be the focal point!

Are you saying that the only thing that I should consider is price? As long as their are viable alternatives, I will continue to boycott French companies, and notify the companies of my decision. It has nothing to do with price. Why should I support the companies or country that has motives that I don't agree with, unless I have no other choice... In the three cases I mentioned, I WAS going to buy their products, but I wound up with substitutes that I was perfectly happy with...
In the case of my motorcycle, I have a Ducati 900SP, and it came equiped with Dunlop tires. I've bought Dunlops twice since I bought it, but I was giving thought to using Michellin Pilots, since those are the tires used by the Ducati World Superbike team. But then the French opposed the US interests, and I no longer had any wish to support a French company. So I bought the Dunlops, which are wonderful tires.
In the case of the hotel, I spent an extra $20 on the hotel room, and it was far nicer than the normal Motel 6 room that I stay in. Again, I think that my call to Motel 6's corporate offices was more effective than sending the $20 I would have saved to a charity. And finally, I was interested in getting a revolver, but I decided that I wanted another 1911, one that I could eventually turn into a CCW weapon...
Oh, and the cases of the tires and the handgun, I saved money money on both.

Nice language! I think it applies to the french cheese eating surrender monkeys.
Agreed.
"Well, it would be quite easy for the USA to stop, then, if Israel is in such a nice position. Why doesn't it?"
Let's review: Jimmuh Carter hosted the signing of the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel. In return for the principles letting Jimmuh take credit for something besides serving coffee, the US agreed to pay each country a bounty of some 3-4 billion dollars annually. That's why. It's a treaty obligation which persists AFAIK, in perpetuity.
:-)
HEY AMERICA... QUIT FRANCE!!!!!!!!!!
;)
PS. DID YA CATCH DENIS MILLER SUNDAY NIGHT, NAILING FRANCE AND THEIR CELEBRATION OF "BASTILLE DAY"??? IT WAS GREAT!
Now, if ya could only put Osama and his crones in this photo, all would be complete! Great photo, and God bless.
The decision of what product to buy has a thousand variables. To say "it's all price/value" assumes you can even make an absolute judgement on the best price/value. You can't. You're guessing. Mostly guessing right. Sometimes guessing wrong. To say "I don't want my money going to criminal organizations" is not a bad thing, it's a good thing.
In the case of oil, we're over a barrel, and are forced to buy from a criminal syndicate (OPEC). But in the case of tires, wines, and a thousand other products, we are not.
If I have to pay a few pennies more so that my money doesn't go towards enslaving women and children and murdering free people, I'll do it. Gladly.
Call it a tariff. Call it whatever you please. If I have a chance to keep my cash from going into the hands of evil thugs, I'm taking that opportunity.
YOU ABSOLUTELY IGNORED I MENTIONED QUALITY IN ADDITION TO PRICE. YOUR POST IS COMPLETELY OFF THE MARK
Boycott France.
Boycott France.
Thats your choice. But as i said before make that choice knowing that it may cost you a little in financial terms.
So to your way of thinking, the only valid economic decision on earth is one based purely on price/value? There's never a time when morality or patriotism should enter into a purchasing decision. Do I understand you correctly?
