"I seem to have offended all sorts of people with my outburst, which was not my intent, so I apologise mightily."
No problem and apology accepted. Just so you know the original title was "Major warehouse fire in SLC"
It was an honest question as this is a large nation/world and some of us have no idea what or where SLC is. See my post #9.

See my post #9.
Oops! Perhaps if I had a shorter fuse I would not have embarassed myself. Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa.

Actually, it's NW of PHX. If it's anywhere north of Carefree, it's north of PHX!!

(But that's a little obscure even for this audience)

Don't treat it like East Overshoe, MA. And just what is wrong with East Overshoe, MA, bucko?
(Besides its crappy location in the most liberty-killing region in the land)?

PHX: 33°26'03"N 112°00'29"W
SLC: 40°47'18"N 111°58'40"W
Note difference in longitude of less than 2 minutes of arc (0.303 deg, 1.817' by quick calc). Note that difference is positive, so SLC is actually slightly East of PHX, but is for all intents and purposes directly North of PHX.
Great Circle route, PHX-SLC:
Great Circle route, PHX - North Pole:
Note the line crossing just next to the Great Salt Lake on its way to the pole.
