It would be funny to give this f***tard an honorary qualifier jump sans parachute."Well just PRETEND you have chute,y'know, like you pretended you were a Ranger!"
Sec. 912. - Officer or employee of the United States
Whoever falsely assumes or pretends to be an officer or employee acting under the authority of the United States or any department, agency or officer thereof, and acts as such, or in such pretended character demands or obtains any money, paper, document, or thing of value, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both
Out these 'honor usurpers'.
I went to The Citadel with numerous geniune articles. I could never hope to hold a candle to their absolute dedication in defending our nation.
If a guy brags about his 'so-called service' - call him on it. 99% of the time, its just a loser glomming on to the mystique.
Real Troopers don't brag, they don't have to.

LOL!
This apology is so GAY. This guy is obviously so LAME. He'll probably end up ghosting Kerry's autobiography. Mr. Wright, this honorable court sentences you to wear panties on your head for the rest of your life.
Because, prevarication is the liberal communistic way.
This guy sickens me;even before he was outed as a liar his "art" turned my stomach. He reminds me of the fat, obnoxious comic book seller on "The Simpsons." Hey Micah, if you are really, truly sorry for your lies, as you claim, why don't you donate some of the money you've made to an organization to benefit the families of Rangers killed defending our country?
Richard Leiby, when faced with a nagging feeling that something was not right, contacted a number of well-known (in the community, at least) Ranger and SF personnel. Who in turn contacted others who have experience with wannabees.
I was one of those people. Our investigation proved definitively that Wright was a phony in a matter of days. (The first strong indications came within hours). Our advice to Mr Leiby was that, rather than rely on telephonic and email dismissals of Wright's claims from all the Ranger unit HQs and the Ranger Training Brigade, that he himself (Mr Leiby) complete the FOIA request, and get the official word on Micah Ian Wright. He offered Wright the chance to speed things up by signing SF 180, which my understanding is, Mr Wright declined to do.
This way Mr Leiby received, before going to the press, definitive proof that Mr Wright's claims were false, from a channel he could demonstrate to his editors and anyone questioning him was official and unbiased.
I am often very, very critical of the press, including the Washington Post. Mr Leiby and I would probably not find a lot in the realm of politics or public policy where we agreed. But I have to say that in this case, Mr Leiby did the right thing. He was fair to Mr Wright and he was fair to all the soldiers who have earned the Ranger Tab, served in Ranger units, or served in combat in Panama or elsewhere -- the soldiers that Wright impersonated.
Mr Leiby deserves to be commended for his responsible and ethical journalism. Those of you who watch journalistic transgressions, please don't fail to recognise the good guys who go the extra mile to find and report the truth.

When the Last Civil War Veteran died, a writer, looking to document his service, turned up the surprising news that he was a kid during the Civil War, and never served. So it was the next-to-last-guy, right? Er, no -- another phony.
Same thing with SEALs. I have met a handful of real SEALs. (Freeper Travis McGee is one, although I haven't met him face to face yet; the late FReeper Harpseal was another). But if I've met one I've met a thousand bogus SEALs -- one of whom almost had me convinced he was OK.
Even experienced soldiers get taken in sometimes, and some of the phonies concoct incredible sets of documentation, etc. We've had to weed them out of the Special Forces Association (where you have to document your service) and the Special Operations Association (where current members have to authenticate you!) If they had put that much effort into living their own lives instead of their fantasy lives, many of these folks could really go places. You're right, it's sad.

The're a pretty lively discussion board over there for BTDT's and Wright's case, along with other posers, has been discussed in detail.
Here is the email that I sent (with profanity edited out):
How did you not get included in Al Franken's latest book, you pile of [crap]? You are an oxygen thief. Stop it. Stop stealing oxygen from those of us who are worthy of breathing it. You are not worthy. Choke yourself. You took an important step towards redemption when you admitted, for the record, that you lied when you made your ridiculous and obviously bogus claim to being a person with the [fortitude] to be a Ranger. Complete this redemption by choking yourself, so that the remainder of the human race is not disgraced by your existence in this planet.
Please do not get confused. By "redemption" I do not mean YOUR redemption. I mean OUR redemption, in that we can now stick your ridiculous claims in the faces of the buffoons who bought your book - and now they can no longer deny the truth, because your mea culpa is now part of the public record.
Some of us serve our nation, in uniform (I mean for real, not just in our imaginations), so that the rest of the nation can live free from coercion. It is not your type that we serve intentionally - you are just an unintended beneficiary. If there is another terror attack in this country, I hope that you are one of the victims. What sweet poetic justice that would be.
And here is his response:
Hi,
Redemption:
1. the act of redeeming or the state of being redeemed; salvation, grace
2. a repossession or repurchase, as of something pawned, mortgaged, or pledged against a debt.
3. a release or rescue, as from bondage or sin; salvation
4. the exchange or conversion, as of coupons for goods or securities into cash.
Thanks for writing, it's always nice to hear from fans.
For your information, I didn't continue on in ROTC and get my commission because I snapped a tendon during Jump School after Advanced Camp the summer before my Senior Year. To this day I can't run fast and my leg hurts on cold days. It's not that I didn't WANT to do it, it's that I COULDN'T do it. That doesn't forgive what I did, but maybe it gives you a little clearer picture of my commitment to this country.
yours,
Micah
I'm not sure how he envisions his committment to this country. I did not snap my tendon in jump school, though I did break a bone in my foot during ground week and continue training to graduate. But, even if I had suffered a career-ending injury, I doubt that I would have responded by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

That sounds a bit suspicious to me. IIRC, to get into advanced ROTC (junior and senior years), you had to sign an enlistment contract. This fact should have turned up in the FOIA requests.
