FBI urges vigilance for July 4

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Seattle is a major muslim area, my sister says the stores have chairs for the husbands to sit in while the wife shops, the wives there wear the muslim costume.

In '99 and '00 my wife and I frequently went to Northwest Trading on the Seattle waterfront to stock up on items for our import store. The proprietor was/is a Muslim and handled product from India and Pakistan. Things were remarkably calm then; Hindus and Muslims (and a few Christians!) would do business side by side with no problem. In fact, I believe it is still that way although I haven't been back recently. The proprietor always laid out the welcome mat for us since we had to travel a couple of hundred miles and always checked the items we purchased to make sure that weren't out of date, etc.

There is a big Indian retail store about a mile from the Microsoft campus and things are much the same there with the mixed clientele. I can only think of one purely "Muslim" store which is in a cubbyhole with no room for chairs. But there may be others now. Some Muslim women wear the costume and others don't.

Your description sounds as tho it went as it should have.

I get very sad at this WOT, that has set us back into the stone age and taught us the wrong lessons.

I once owned a dress of the finest cotton, from India, you could almost read print through it, it was so fine.

There is so much they could be teaching us, instead of hate.

I can think of many things they have shared with those who wanted to be crafts people, Gemstones, Weaving, Baskets, Pottery and of course cooking. But no longer, after 9-11 we can only think of terrorists.

Terrorist books found in trash start inquiry

State police are investigating an incident in which several books about terrorism, spying and bomb-making were found in a trash bin at Governors Square off Ironbound Road earlier this week.

James City County police said someone told them Tuesday about finding the items, and they referred the case to State Police. Some of the books had handwritten names in the front, James City County police said.

No further information was available from either county or state police. A State Police spokesman said an agent with the department's criminal investigations division was handling the case, but he could not comment while the matter was under investigation.

It added that Muslims who could not flee should stockpile food and cash.

Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden’s so-called truce ends on July 15.

N Korea prepares for war against US

SEOUL: North Korea’s defence chief urged soldiers on Thursday to step up combat preparations, denouncing the United States for plotting an attack on the communist country.

The order was contained in a speech made by Defence Minister Kim Il-Chol to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of former North Korean president Kim Il-Sung. “The service-persons will increase the combat capability and step up the combat preparations in every way under the uplifted slogan of a-match-for-a hundred (a soldier capable of beating 100 enemy soldiers) to defend as firm as an iron wall the socialist motherland,” he said.

A sad thing is that some people, especially very young people, may only experience the negative side other than the occasional curry or Sheekh Kabab.
