FBI urges vigilance for July 4

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

This is the path to which PC leads. No matter how hard they try, they can't stop someone from feeling, thinking, or believing what they choose.

Both communism and atheism are unnatural conditions, enforced by those that would dominate with whatever force is necessary. If the government is willing to do this to the people of their own culture, what will they try to do to the rest of the world?

There's a lesson here. We need to look to our own politicians who espouse this same ideology. We need to look hard at their motivations, for the ultimate end of the path they have chosen is domination through brute force.

Only my opinion: I did not expect a spectacular attack on Sunday here or elsewhere on the 4th. I think they want to attack us here and elsewhere in a big way but they will do it on their timeline as they have said. I think the attacks all over the world except here will continue, some prevented some successful. Poland and Australia have been utmost in my mind; and they will continue to attack Saudi Arabia and that general region.

I would expect a big attack "attempt" here in the U.S. sometime this year though; but not at either political convention when the security will be airtight.

They are patient and they seem to constantly remind their followers and supporters of the virtue of patience; they tell their supporters that one of their aims is to weaken the U.S. by scattering our troops all over (they really are trying to entice us into Saudi Arabia) and keeping our soldiers busy while -- in the interim -- they keep the verbal threats coming that continue to affect our economy and tamp down our desire to travel, get out and about, disrupt our ourseas embassies, etc. So, when the big attacks get postponed, they are able to somewhat soothe their supporters with this sub goal of weakening us.

That's my 2 cents and 6th sense anyway. What do you think, Quix? I am surmising that you are a psychologist or psychiatrist or counselor? Is that right? If so, I can only imagine how taxing that line of work is. Weaving is a good outlet, I would think.

We can be sure that Europe has no intention of compliance with bin Laden on the deadline. They can't even meet deadlines they want to meet. We wait like hostages for the sawing action of the dull knife to be applied to some part of our civilization.

Thanks for the Reuters link - I totally missed it. I was pretty much off line over the long weekend except for quickly scanning TM for updates a couple of times. I knew they mentioned the truce deadline was approaching but I hadn't heard about the warning to muslims to leave the area and stock up on food. This tells me it's going to be a much bigger strike than the madrid train hit and probably cause a lot of chaos.

In the statement, the Abu Hafs Masri brigade listed four targets for the next phase of their operations:

1. Expansion of the conflict, by distributing operations throughout the world. The Brigades claim that they want to lead America into a third “swamp” similar to Afghanistan and Iraq. They suggest that Yemen will become this new theatre of operations.
2. Shaking investor confidence in the American economy
3. Expose the plans of the Jewish Crusaders
4. Cause the enemy to spread out their forces, and then wear them down.
