Update:
IRAQ HANDOVER 'TODAY'
The handover of power in Iraq is to be brought forward to today.
A formal announcement will be made later today, Tony Blair said.
The informal announcement was made by Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari.
The handover of power to an interim Iraqi government was supposed to take place on June 30.
Mr Zebari said the deteriorating security situation in the country was one of the reasons why the date had been brought forward.
"We will challenge these elements in Iraq, the anti-democratic elements, by even bringing the handover of sovereignty before June 30 as a sign we are ready for it," he said.
He added: "We have made some very good progress in terms of the new security council (in Iraq) and the return of sovereignty to the Iraqi people to take away the level of occupation we have suffered a great deal from.
"There are many Iraqis who are standing up to the challenge. We are here to seek more help and assistance, training and equipment."
CSpan's been down for me all day today. :(
I get the weather after you're all done with it, but I wasn't paying too, too much attention to how long it was going on, when it stopped, etc... With all of the storms we've had, I could have felt the "thunder" without paying any attention to it, so might have felt my very first earthquake without even knowing it. lol
Just when you think it can't get any better :)
Zwahari what's his name was caught!!
Ambassador Bremer deserves a ticker tape parade in every city in the USA.
Thank you, Paul Bremer for your incredible courage and leadership under unimaginable circumstances!
YES!!!
Amazing, ain't it!!!
That's what got me started on taping all these things. For the first month after the attacks, our VCR recorded 24/7. Been taping things relevant to the war on terror ever since.
I agree with your recommendation. Reviewing the events of Sept. 11th should be done, especially by anyone who forgets the pure hatred and evil we're up against.
My tapes may be useful for something one day, maybe not. But between them, and all the threads I've saved over the past couple of years, this era in history is something I plan to keep. :-)
LOL!
Well, I see the sky lightening up, so it's time for this Vampire FReeper to hit the hay!
Maybe all this good news is tuckering me out!
I'm starting to think about putting on another pot of coffee. lol
I just woke up to the news! And Zarqawi captured!
Amazing!
It was reported last night that Kerry will skip the Mayors' Conference appearance. What a wuss! W is facing danger in Ireland and Turkey, Kerry can't handle Boston!
LOL.......what a girlie man!
What if he were president????
I wish I had gone to bed earlier last night......LOL.
I swear, I heard it. Crud, now FOX says they're denying it, it might have been the wrong guy.
Won't be long, though. Maybe not this time, but very soon...
I know, but I could already taste it. lol
Now they unconfirmed it. I'm getting too old for this kind of rollercoaster.
Me, too. I stayed up reading when I shoulda known Bush would pull a rabbit out of the hat.
(I thought maybe he was going to use the proximity of Turkey to "sneak" into Baghdad again!)
I can't believe I missed that! And Friday or Saturday, someone from the firefighters' union (which already endorsed him) sort of offered him an out: he said that if Kerry showed and marched with the picketers for a while and talked with them, they'd be willing to cut him slack for crossing the picket line afterwards.
