Update:
IRAQ HANDOVER 'TODAY'
The handover of power in Iraq is to be brought forward to today.
A formal announcement will be made later today, Tony Blair said.
The informal announcement was made by Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari.
The handover of power to an interim Iraqi government was supposed to take place on June 30.
Mr Zebari said the deteriorating security situation in the country was one of the reasons why the date had been brought forward.
"We will challenge these elements in Iraq, the anti-democratic elements, by even bringing the handover of sovereignty before June 30 as a sign we are ready for it," he said.
He added: "We have made some very good progress in terms of the new security council (in Iraq) and the return of sovereignty to the Iraqi people to take away the level of occupation we have suffered a great deal from.
"There are many Iraqis who are standing up to the challenge. We are here to seek more help and assistance, training and equipment."
CONRATULATIONS all around,to the people of Iraq,President Allawi,President Bush,PM Blair, and the military are due and well deserved. This is a glorious day, that's for sure.
Yup. Thanks to this early transfer, F911 will be reduced to room temperature (in other words, dead).
They're saying one of the reasons for the early handover is to preempt the terrorists. This includes michael moore.
I just love surprizes. On Thanksgiving listening to the radio in the car on the way to Grandpa's house I heard the news GWB had landed in Baghdad. I was dailing people on the cell phone all over spreading the good news.
Sure are glad you all are here to share the fun with!
Ironic isn't it that if you take a REAL look at Iraq, most of the people there are grateful we have taken down Saddam and his minions.
But they do not report that...the fact that 50 million people are free now, and won't have their tongues cut out and their fingers cut off and be killed for not worshiping the Government lackeys.
*sigh*
Ouch! That's gonna leave a nasty mark. heh heh heh!
How about having Saddam's trial 26-29 July? Surely Bushes Iraqi friend could set that up?
It's so much more exciting and fun,to share this great news with friends.:-)
Don't you wish you had it, Democrats?
Not just leadership, but successful, winning leadership.
some definitions here :-) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=owned&b=1
Zacharwi must be cussing up a storm about now! Ha!
You shoulda' stayed up.........
This is an historical day, a great day, and surely a day for giving thanks. For the hostages and their families, prayers. And for the people of the new Iraq, congratulations indeed.
Oh, I do love a devious mind! Perfect.
Thank you for the link.:-)
Notice the AP writer does not give a direct quote from Zebari detialing this...he/she/it just "interprets"...the quote from Zebari is more of a "we're taking you bastards on" line...the press continues to try and paint this as a failure. Whatta bunch of jackals.
Besides, it doesn't work. I tried it back when I was doing 18-20 hour days, 6 days a week.
My mouth is starting to hurt from the smiling.
I did wake up the teenager at 5am the morning Saddam was caught, he (a conservative btw) tried his best to look excited before he fell right back to sleep.
I don't think my MIL tried it either. It was just a great joke and she told it so straight-faced!
