Update:

IRAQ HANDOVER 'TODAY'

The handover of power in Iraq is to be brought forward to today.

A formal announcement will be made later today, Tony Blair said.

The informal announcement was made by Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari.

The handover of power to an interim Iraqi government was supposed to take place on June 30.

Mr Zebari said the deteriorating security situation in the country was one of the reasons why the date had been brought forward.

"We will challenge these elements in Iraq, the anti-democratic elements, by even bringing the handover of sovereignty before June 30 as a sign we are ready for it," he said.

He added: "We have made some very good progress in terms of the new security council (in Iraq) and the return of sovereignty to the Iraqi people to take away the level of occupation we have suffered a great deal from.

"There are many Iraqis who are standing up to the challenge. We are here to seek more help and assistance, training and equipment."

chance to spend the first half of this week undermining this historical event"

Imagine the shows they had slated for Tuesday evening...

"Is that you on your FR page? I must say - you are beautiful. Plus brains to do what you are doing is so impressive!!"

I agree!

What an adventure for you, Allegra. :) Stay safe!

FR is better than tv.

Can't argue with that! REAL news is what got me hooked to FR in the first place. :-)

But having the TV on, too, works great, especially when taping these events, which I do constantly. Don't know what I'll do with all these video tapes (#440 is in now) but I've been documenting things since 9/11.
Looking forward to taping SoDammed's trial.

I checked out the dailies tonight. If the estimate hold F911 declined from Friday sales to Saturday. Both The Passion and Shrek2 went way up Friday to Saturday. Also F911 declined 10% more on Sunday. I think F911 will flameout very quickly.

The more I think about this, the more I think it is F'ing brilliant. There are no words I can come up with that express it better. Whoever came up with this tactic should be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The political, diplomatic, strategic, and operational implications of this move are profound. This is good shit. Not only did this move short circuit violence in the coming days (although there will surely be some, anyway), but it cut short the political commentary of naysayers that was sure to (and already has) hit the airwaves, as well.

Happy June 28th

Perhaps Saddam will beg for his life as Kim begged for HIS last week. "I don't want to die!!" I can still hear him-- Poor Kim. God bless him.

I doubt seriously that I will be saying "Poor Saddam" when we hear HIM beg for his life. Although, I bet he is too arrogant to beg.
