Update:

IRAQ HANDOVER 'TODAY'

The handover of power in Iraq is to be brought forward to today.

A formal announcement will be made later today, Tony Blair said.

The informal announcement was made by Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari.

The handover of power to an interim Iraqi government was supposed to take place on June 30.

Mr Zebari said the deteriorating security situation in the country was one of the reasons why the date had been brought forward.

"We will challenge these elements in Iraq, the anti-democratic elements, by even bringing the handover of sovereignty before June 30 as a sign we are ready for it," he said.

He added: "We have made some very good progress in terms of the new security council (in Iraq) and the return of sovereignty to the Iraqi people to take away the level of occupation we have suffered a great deal from.

"There are many Iraqis who are standing up to the challenge. We are here to seek more help and assistance, training and equipment."

The early move cuts into their milestone body counts you know before November 2nd. They must be spitting nails about now.

President George W. Bush receives confirmation of Iraqi sovereignty, then wrote, “Let Freedom Reign!,” during the opening session of the NATO Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, Monday, June 28, 2004.

I'm also late to this "party" although I've been watching the news since this morning. What wonderful news to wake up to! I love the video of Bush getting the message. The look on Blair's face is also priceless!

Thak you FNC for your outstanding coverage!

God bless President Bush, PM Blair, the soldiers, and all the Iraqis who are doing their part to make and keep Iraq free. Thank you Jesus!!

Rather's all dressed up and nowhere to go!

Somehow this struck me as hilariously funny. Good one.

T'other way around, Churchill's "V" for victory was clever because it just reversed a gesture everyone already knew :)

There is no plan in Iraq. They didn't have a plan. What is the plan? No planning for the occupation. I still haven't heard a plan from this administration.

That is because to work against terrorists(criminals) who want that country for their base, you must keep your plans secret. Each secret plan this administration has had, has worked, and worked beyond expectations. Time for the decriers to shut up. They are losing face, and don't even know it.

Man, I can't remember a day in recent history when the lib/dems were angrier and more hateful than today. I guess they all swallowed hard on the Moore propaganda this weekend. Such foolish ninnies....

Under Saddam, a select group had all the conveniences, while the others lived in poverty with state handouts.

You can guess who the partisan press interviews when they want to find out about satisfaction with current living conditions in Iraq. Those who had a disproportionate amount of the goodies under Saddam are not doing as well these days. Those who used to have electricity 2 hours a day are probably very happy.

I just want to second others who are saying that note from Condi should go straight into the Smithsonian, or be put on display in the Library of Congress.
