A successful black businessman who is seeking to become Georgia's next U.S. senator says he will never waffle on the pro-family issues. Former pizza magnate Herman Cain believes God had a hand on the founding of America, and he says people have no right to redefine what God has defined.
Cain is facing two incumbent Republican congressmen in the July 20 Republican Primary. The former president and CEO of Godfather's Pizza says his Christianity governs his political stances. So when issues such as abortion and so-called homosexual marriage come up, he notes, "They are not difficult questions for me to answer because of my biblical basis."
The Senate candidate says without hesitation, "I am pro-life from conception, and I believe that God defined marriage as between a man and a woman. And I believe God knew what he was doing -- end of story."
Another thing Cain believes in is America's Christian heritage. "I'm one of these people who feel very strongly that there is no ambiguity about the intent of our founding fathers that God would be a part of the foundation, morally, of this country," he says.
Cain says he will take his Christian values to the U.S. Senate if the people of Georgia send him to Washington this November. He insists that, just as people have no right to redefine the institution of marriage from the way God defined it, people have no right to redefine the moral foundation of the United States and "the vast majority of people agree with that particular position."
The senatorial candidate says he will never waffle on issues related to the family, traditional marriage, or the right of Americans to acknowledge their religious heritage, which is obvious from the nation's foundational documents and the Pledge of Allegiance in its present form. Cain says he also supports keeping the phrase "under God" in the pledge.
So does this gentleman have a chace? Who are his competitors? Is he raising money?
If Cain wins, he will be as isolated in his party caucus as Zell Miller is.
For some reason Bush and Rove prefer RINOs. Sometimes it ends up with egg in their face, like with Jack Ryan in IL.
What we need most are men of conviction in Washington who stand up for their beliefs.
I believe this is the candidate Justice Moore backs. These politicians who have principles and stick to them really don't give a flying flip about fitting in.
Look at Tancredo in Colorado: Bush hates him and told him to stay away from the White House, and Tancredo keeps on rolling along. Bless him!
This appears to be a GOOD MAN. Let us pray that his right trumps all that the demonRATs will throw his way.
Do you have a source for this comment or is this just your personal view?
The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will exalt Him.
~Exodus 15:2 (NKJV)
When my father left his familys small farm at the age of 18 with just the clothes on his back, he had his belief in God, his belief in himself and his belief in the United States of America. With these beliefs he achieved all of his dreams in life.
Using those same beliefs, I have been able to achieve many blessings in life with the strength, which comes from God. My family and friends, my church, my success and the opportunity to live in the greatest country in the world are all blessings from God.
There is more to life than getting more. This is why my song unto Him is to use all my talents to serve my fellow man, and make a difference in the future of our Nation.
In God we trust expressed the faith of our Founding Fathers. In God I trust is my faith.
With all due respect...I do believe Cain is a Pubbie and I do not believe the caucus will (or want to) shut him out.
Yes and no. Karl Rove was furious because Tancredo, who is the head of the immigration committe in Congress - and a threat to illegals, was calling for a halt on open borders. Rove, who is a horses ---, told Tancredo to never darken the door at the White House again, that Tancredo would never be welcome.
If you wish, I'll e-mail Tancredo and get a verification and get back to you. This happened some time after 9-11.
I'll tell you one thing about this man: if whatever skeletons he has in his closet (we all have them) are relatively insignificant, and stories like this one get written about him in time and publicised widely, he will roll to an easy victory in both the primaries and the senate seat in Georgia.
We really need people like this in public office now.
I wish him well.
.
Karl Rove told Trancado to 'hit the bricks', i.e.; Get out, stay out and don't come back - ever!! It happened a couple years ago1 and Trancado was on O'Reilly and told the story.
1- This was when O'Reilly was on his 'illegal alien crusade' and I saw the episode.
I've heard this a hundred times before. Republicans never keep their promises. Also, a great deal of people who wear family values on their sleeves end up being the biggest perverts out there.
I've been working for Mr. Cain for about 6 months now to help get him elected.
I seriously don't think he's a pervert.
Trust me, Mr. Isakson I'm sure has done all he could to find out anything about this "upstart", and still nothing.
Cain is a true conservative, and there are a lot of Georgians who are chomping at the bit to go and vote for him on July 20th.
He doesn't wear his family values "on his sleeve", but he does live that life.
People are so cynical now a days.
Mr. Cain has promised to rock the boat. And yes, many people won't like that.
That's ok, because then he said he would drive the boat. I'm ready, let's go.
Yup, that's what so few politicians understand: People respond to strength. Even people who may not agree with all the positions a candidate takes, respond favorably to strength. Reagan was the penultimate example.
