Summary: The DreamWorks' animated film, "Shrek 2," is billed as harmless entertainment but contains subtle sexual messages.
Parents who are thinking about taking their children to see "Shrek 2", may wish to consider the following: The movie features a male-to-female transgender (in transition) as an evil bartender. The character has a five o'clock shadow, wears a dress and has female breasts. It is clear that he is a she-male. His voice is that of talk show host Larry King.
During a dance scene at the end of the movie, this transgendered man expresses sexual desire for Prince Charming, jumps on him, and both tumble to the floor.
In another scene in the movie, Shrek and Donkey need to be rescued from a dungeon where they are chained against the wall. The rescue is conducted by pinnochio who is asked to lie so his nose will grow long enough for one of the smaller cartoon characters to use it as a bridge to reach Shrek and Donkey. Donkey encourages him to lie about something and suggetsts he lie about wearing women's underwear. When he denies wearing women's underwear, his nose begins to grow.
An earlier scene in the movie features a wolf dressed in grandma's clothing and reading a book when Prince Charming encounters him. Later, one of the characters refers to the wolf's gender confusion.
TVC's report "A gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream" explains the transgender agenda and the effort to deconstruct the biological reality of male and female. DreamWorks is helping in this effort by promoting cross dressing and transgenderism in this animated film.

You're entitled to your opinion. I've been called a "religious fanatic" by many people, but I enjoyed "Shrek" and "Shrek 2" and I think they are very entertaining and not likely to destroy anyone's moral principles, unless said "moral principles" are very, very flimsy to begin with.

SEX/NUDITY 3 - Shrek and Fiona kiss while lying on a beach (Fiona jumps on top of Shrek), and a wave washes over them leaving a mermaid in Fiona's place kissing Shrek. Fiona and Shrek kiss in several other scenes. A man and a woman also kiss. Three women swoon over a man and try to kiss him, they rub his shoulders, and they act excited when he goes to "get out of his clothes." Shrek and Fiona sleep in bed together, and Shrek and Fiona take a mud bath together (we see bare shoulders). A man and a woman dance together surrounded by many other couples that are dancing in a ballroom. Shrek carries Fiona across the threshold of their home. A woman's dress falls open at the thigh exposing bare legs. A man's pants fall down and we see his bare legs. We see Shrek in his underwear and we see Shrek's hairy chest a few times. Fiona wears low-cut dresses that reveal some cleavage. A man touches himself and talks about the condition of his body ("taut buttocks," etc.) A song makes reference to a "sexy man/boy chauffeur," a man's "sexy tush," a "roll in the hay," and a horse says "now we are sexy." Pinocchio wears a woman's thong (he is teased about wearing women's underwear). A woman looks very masculine and has Larry King's voice.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - Trees topple and a billboard is knocked down as a giant cookie walks knocking everything in his path down; flaming balls are shot at a the cookie, setting one of his gumdrop buttons on fire, milk is poured over the cookie, his arms break off, he begins to melt and falls back into a moat and we see him sinking. A cat with a sword attacks Shrek, lunges at him piercing his leg with his claws (Shrek screams), the cat climbs all around him continuing to drive his claws into him; Donkey tries to help but kicks Shrek in the crotch instead. A cat fights many guards with swords. Guards hold a man and a horse on the ground, one guard pulls out a bag of drugs, one sprinkles pepper in the man's face then we see the man, the horse and a cat hanging from chains attached to a wall in a cell. Guards shoot arrows at three characters as they run, they jump, a vat of liquid is poured on them, a man threatens one with a sword and a bird defecates on the man's shoulder. Fiona grabs a mermaid by the tail and tosses her into the sea where we see her attacked by sharks in the distance. Fiona beats up several men with punches and kicks. Also a woman head-butts a man. A man is hit by a stray fairy bolt, the bolt ricochets and hits the fairy too, and she disappears. Shrek, Donkey and Fiona collapse after drinking a potion. A cat is threatened with neutering, and a woman threatens a man. Shrek and a man argue while preparing food at a table (they slam meat onto platters, hack at the meat with cleavers, etc.). A pig jumps and hangs onto a flying fairy's foot causing her to fall to the ground. A man goes into a darkened room and talks to someone in the shadows about doing away with someone. Two men toss a man out of a carriage and he tumbles on the ground. A cat stomps on Donkey's hoof. Shrek is hit on the head with a book. People argue in a few scenes, and a man and a woman yell at another man. We hear the story of a curse placed on an infant, to become an ogre at sunset every day. A knight slides across a cable and lands in a dragon's lair looking for a princess to save. A cat falls from a high shelf. Shrek hangs upside down from a tree with a rope around his ankle. Shrek drops Fiona on the floor (we hear a thud). Shrek growls at a puppy and the puppy cries and whimpers. A cyclops is the bouncer at a bar, a headless knight sits at a bar, and a hatchet is tossed at a dartboard at the bar. A sleeping woman falls out of a carriage and lands hard on the ground. A bird flies into a wall and crashes onto the ground (we hear two splats). A mouse crashes into a door jamb (he's one of the Three Blind Mice), and a mouse falls down a shaft. Fiona and Shrek both flatulate in a mud bath (we see bubbles). Shrek flatulates, and also sneezes goo onto the ground (we see goo dangling on a rock). A cat has a mouse in its mouth (we see tail wiggling). A cat coughs up a large fur ball after gagging and gasping for a while. Fiona burps, Shrek smiles with food dangling from his teeth (we see strands of goo), and Shrek swallows a spoon then spits it out across a table. A cat licks himself between his legs. Shrek scratches his bottom.

Did you ever look closely at how Disney characters like Bambi were drawn? Bambi was frequently presenting its tail-high rear end to the camera; the pervasiveness of that kind of posture is nothing short of embarrassing.

My eight year old, who thinks the word "underwear" is funny when uttered in mixed company, didn't think about this twice. Nor did we when we saw Bugs Bunny, Dustin Hoffman, or Robin Williams in drag when we were young.

Now Grimm's Fairy Tales are going to corrupt our kids. The wolf wears Grandma's clothes to trick Red Riding Hood. The reference to gender confusion will go right over kid's heads, like it should. Lighten up, people!!
FWIW, I don't necessarily disagree that corrupting influences can be insidious, but I think children raised with a healthy sense of humor and good parenting that utilizes "teachable moments" at the right stage of the children's development are better equipped to handle life in modern society than those who are completely shielded from everything even remotely negative. As someone said earlier, watching Saturday morning cartoons throughout my childhood hardly made me think dropping an anvil on someone's head was the right thing to do. And I still remember the Interjections! episode of Schoolhouse Rock that showed a little boy's bare cartoon butt. Horrors!!!!
I have to wonder if the Traditional Values Coalition are somehow related to the eternally better-than-you folk over at the Landover Baptist Church? Both seem to be masters at the art of satire, for surely no one takes TVC seriously.
Some people are squeamish about telling the truth about evil. Some info isn't pretty - like the fact that the worst sodomites use rape as a way of "getting dates." They tell their victims "Now, you're not like them anymore. You're one of us now." Violent, nasty people inhabit that world. Let them get powerful, and they'll provide new understanding of the term "sexual harassment."
I'd have to see the movie to make a definite assessment of the bartender, but that won't happen because folks I personally know, respect and trust have said it's unhealthy for kids; and I'm not going to I waste my time or money previewing the movie for my kids.
Perhaps you didn't think of dropping an anvil on someone's head, and neither did I, but today they're immitating homosexuality in kids movies and kids are also getting a message in school it's okay to be homosexual. Kids are smarter than we realize.
I remember much of the innocent times you mention, but it was a different time in America. Much has changed, and most of what's changed is targeted at the minds of our kids.

Well, this is how the story was told in Switzerland, before the Brothers Grimm cleaned it up:
On a high plain between Brugg and Waldshut, near the Black Forest, seven dwarfs lived together in a small house. Late one evening an attractive young peasant girl, who was lost and hungry, approached them and requested shelter for the night. The dwarfs had only seven beds, and they fell to arguing with one another, for each one wanted to give up his bed for the girl. Finally the oldest one took the girl into his bed.
Before they could fall asleep a peasant woman appeared before their house, knocked on the door, and asked to be let inside. The girl got up immediately and told the woman that the dwarfs had only seven beds, and that there was no room there for anyone else. With this the woman became very angry and accused the girl of being a slut, thinking that she was cohabiting with all seven men. Threatening to make a quick end to such evil business, she went away in a rage.
That same night she returned with two men, whom she had brought up from the bank of the Rhine. Together they broke into the house and killed the seven dwarfs. They buried the bodies outside in the garden and burned the house to the ground. No one knows what became of the girl.
