America's finest advocate for "social justice" and "equality" is none other than Eminem, the popularly revolting rapper whose recent lyrics glorify such things as drugs, murder, rape, and other sorts of atrocious pastimes. Eminem is the quintessential homophobe and the quintessential chauvinist, but he is quite celebrated in the corner of the Left that had him as the keynote speaker for last weekend's Detroit Hip-Hop Summit, an effort to register young gangsta's to vote.
Eminem himself is not a voter, for he is a convicted felon. But that did not deter the organizer of the Hip-Hop Summit, Russell Simmons. Simmons created the quarter billion dollar Def Jam Records empire, built the rap music industry and helped make it into a depraved culture of its own. In 2001, Simmons founded the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network to harness "the cultural relevance of Hip-Hop music to serve as a catalyst for education advocacy and other societal concerns fundamental to the well-being of at-risk youth."
Ironic about the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network is that at-risk youth are at risk precisely because they listen to Eminem's music and follow the twisted social thinking of Russell Simmons. Of course, at-risk youth have other negative influences, but it certainly doesn't help things when Eminem is chanting, "B**tch, I'ma kill you, you don't wanna f*** with me!" ....

hehehe I know
I guess I shouldn't say it but I had an uncle who raised hogs on his farm up in Iowa. He told us that only city kids called hogs, pigs. I wonder what he was getting at?
It pays to have a sense of humor about such things.
Time for a late supper.
LOL okay
Pat Boone did a wretched album of heavy metal covers some years ago called "In a Metal Mood". Perhaps he could do the same thing with rap; "In a Gangsta' Groove".
Hmm
Please. Enough of people butchering other people's songs.
I don't know.. my people are ranchers and raised cattle
and everyone listened to that damned country pig farmer music.
Made me sick.
I ran from that lifestyle as quickly as I could.
Now, later in life, I find myself tending back toward that life.
But not the pig farmer music!
living in SoGaNoFla has exposed me to the totality of CWM
*gag*
rdb3 isn't missing a thing.
It's really like that? Wow.
I like old school, pick your genre.
aside from bluegrass, pretty much, yeah.
Christian groups would do a lot better if they honed their craft, concentrated on musical and lyrical integrity, dropped the smarm level by at least one order of magnitude...
If they can't do that and still sing reverently about their God, then maybe they should admit that pop music is not a good format for such an endeavor and try to follow in the steps of the baroque and classical masters.
" The only things worse than gangstarappas are the white women who sleep with / date them "
Should have said THE WOMEN who sleep with / date them , and not singled out white women as it comes across as racist .
I am white , married to a Japanese woman , but if I were single I would certainly date a black woman . Unfortunately , only a tiny percentage of black women will date white guys . Or has that changed since I left the USA 18 years ago ?
Just cause I like to be devil's advocate sometimes...by your definition, any music that contains no lyrics at all is not music, because there is no vocalized harmony/melody. Can't one argue that in rap, it's just rhyming/vocalizing/yelling/screaming/whatever words over music that already has harmony & melody in the background? I personally listen to some rap music, and most of the better beats also have a good track layed down in the background.
Country is the Special Olympics of music.
How many races are there? Do you believe in evolution? Are you a christian? You have a right to yoru opinion, even if it's wrong :)
Nice pic of the Nuge.
