Last night, C-span played Johnson's funeral. It was very dark and still.

Nothing even close to this.

Yes, he is buried in Texas. (Don't hold it against us!)

When the planes fly in and then one takes off it symobolizes that one of their comrades has left the earth and touched the face of God which is why you will see the plane that leaves go straight up. I may be mistaken but I believe it started after the Vietnam War -- at least the Missing Man formation at the AF Museum is located in the area dedicated to those Air Force who gave their lives in Vietnam.

Several times this week I have heard the lines quoted from the poem High Flight which is what this Missing Man formation is about.

It was inappropriate -- and I don't think I've heard a more impersonal eulogy from a child.

It started out okay, but it went quickly downhill with the earlobe story, and continued rolling downroll from there.

She said, no, the next great one will be in this generation of kids who've been hs'ed. Mo1 we talked about this a few days ago, if I recall..sorry if I'm mistaken.

No I don't recall, but it's very possible .. my brain is totally fried at the moment

Either way, there is a shinning light coming from the next generation .. and the torch will passed on and will be carried proudly

That I am sure of

I don't know whether he was assigned or not, but he was excellent at what he did.

I was a bit shocked by that, but it is clear that he is really close to the Reagans.

Patti did very well indeed...and I noticed she was wearing crosses as eardrops and on a necklace...could it be?

She was also very comforting and solicitous toward her mother.

I'm glad she wasn't alone. Couldn't imagine she would be.

Vegas lights--didn't know that. AFter the service at the cathedral the news channels showed bells tolling all over America.

I pray this makes Americans think about God and His will and how our country is great/can be even beter.

"They had Barbara Walters on and she was smugly telling the anchor that (1) Ms. Thatcher would not be coming to the funeral"

I heard those reports too. Don't you almost think that she went all the way to the left coast to prove those pundits wrong. I love Lady Thatcher!

I watched part of the LBJ funeral this afternoon and had the same impression. I don't think I remember ever seeing it.

I have been to the LBJ Ranch with a group of school kids, viewed the video, but the funeral was not on the video. Now I know why!

A few posts away from 3000 ... I wonder what the longest FR thread is about and how many posts it has?

Even as son, the leftist lack of discipline and tact show through.

I am not familiar with Ronnie's politics. That's probably why I can take a longer view of his words. In any case, I've seen more exploitation of Christianity for votes by the left than anyone on the Right.

But, allowing one's politics to override one's sense of decency seems to be part of the foundation of the leftist religion.

Agree totally.

Ron's little jab was really stupid if you ask me. Pres Ronald Reagan frequently spoke of his faith when he was in office and his son is dreaming if he thinks otherwise.

"In regards to your comments on General Jackman, he has been so tender with Mrs. Reagan.

Was he assigned to her, or did she select him?"

It's part of his responsibilities as the Commanding General of the Military District of Washington.
