McCain rejects Kerry's VP offer

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican Sen. John McCain has personally rejected John Kerry's overtures to join the Democratic presidential ticket and forge a bipartisan alliance against President Bush, The Associated Press has learned.

Kerry has asked McCain as recently as late last month to consider becoming his running mate, but the Arizona senator said he's not interested, said a Democratic official who spoke on condition of anonymity because Kerry has insisted that his deliberations be kept private. A second official familiar with the conversations confirmed the account, and said the Arizona senator made it clear he won't change his mind.

Both officials said Kerry stopped short of offering McCain the job, sparing himself an outright rejection that would make his eventual running mate look like a second choice.

``Senator McCain categorically states that he has not been offered the vice presidency by any one,'' said McCain's chief of staff, Mark Salter, who would not confirm the officials' account.

Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter declined to comment.

I did not know that, but all she'd have to do is ask Grant Woods or Sue Grace, both RINOs. It'd be another Lincoln Chafee or Olympia Snowe.

Yes, I like Liddy and Hill (what's up between Barry and Tom, anyway?). I miss hearing Bruce Jacobs since he's so early now. Haven't heard Joe Crummy yet. I heard Charles Goyette is now over with Mohan at 1010 (is that the right station?)

There is an Arriba's about 3 minutes from my house and while they have been there, I haven't been to a smackdown yet.

Brainless swing voters are not paying any attention to the news. Do not worry about swing voters until September or even later.

I agree. These big pol types can smell a loser. And as Rush says, they don't want to "serve" if they aren't in power!

Huh. My mother mentioned this over the weekend, and I had my doubts about it. Should have known. Another transparent maneuver gone awry, like tossing someone else's medals over the fence.

Please, let Kerry offer the VP slot to Napolitano. Please let Kerry offer the VP slot to Napolitano.
On another note, I had a weird dream the other night. That Kerry wanted to talk to my 10 year old son, because he was thinking of campaigning to children. I told him if he came near my son I would pull his bottom lip up over his head.
