The national organization, Move America Forward, is asking Americans who are offended by Michael Moore's "Bash America" movie to voice their opinions to movie industry executives.
We've compiled a list of email addresses and other contact information for the leading movie industry chains - as well for those theaters who have already announced their intention to show "Fahrenheit 9/11."
Please Note - We note Mr. Moore's constitutional right to free speech. What we also acknowledge that Mr. Moore and his backers seem uncomfortable with is that the millions of Americans who are offended by his lies, his attacks on our troops and our president have the right to speak up and say what we think about his "documentary" to the people who will profit from showing it.
Please read more about our efforts - this is the link - http://www.moveamericaforward.org/newsmax/
Already addressed your concern in my other posts. But thanks for speaking your mind!
Did you guys not see the Oscar's coverage? The Cannes film festival?
The question is not whether Moore's voice will be heard. The question is whether a contrarian voice of his will be heard.
OK, my apologies.
Remember, any publicity is good publicity.
There are some people one this thread who were probably singing a different tune when they heard of campaigns to prevent "Passion" from being shown in theaters.
Let Moore have his speech, and either ignore it or tell the world why he is wrong. But don't try to censor him just because you don't like him.
Me, I'll refrain from judging the movie until I've seen it myself.
Knock yourself out. I don't share your viewpoint.
Oh, GAWWWWD...I winced when I saw that name. Of all the Clintonoids who dissembled throughout Whitewater, the ChiCom missiles scandal, the Buddhist temple fundraiser, and the admission of his being attached for minutes at a time to Monica Lewinsky, Rahm Immanuel was the one that made me most wanna put my fist through the screen in the hopes that he could somehow feel it. The only other guy who gives me that feeling nowadays is another Clinton scandal veteran, Chuck Schumer.
I'D SUGGEST NOT GIVING THE FAT PATHETIC SOW MORE PIBLICITY THAN HE NEEDS. E.G. - AVOID HIGH PROFILE PROTEST IN FRONT OF THEATERS A LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN WOULD BE BETTER.
I think of him as a mosquito bite: leave him alone and he'll go away in time. Scratch him and he might get infected.
No problem with trying to point out all of his lies (though what one human could ever enumerate them all?), but trying to silence him is counterproductive, in my view.
I have a liberal friend who always sends me links to Yahoo!-linked articles (AP stories, etc.) - most of which are intensely biased against Bush, and conservatism in general.
So, I think you should pay more attention to the overwhelming tribute being given to Reagan, and less to polls on Yahoo!, when it comes to trying to determine just what message most Americans really believe and support.
Totally agree - that's why we are doing precisely that! Did you see the information on our website? We're advocating EXACTLY what you preach!
If they really believe in Moore's right to free speech, then why try to stop his movie from being shown? Instead, they should start a campaign to to exactly as post #36 suggested. Point out the lies and the distortions.
Again - EXACTLY RIGHT!
Which is why we write on our website:
"Please join us in telling the movie theater companies below your opinion as it relates to their attempt to profit from the showing of Fahrenheit 9/11."
That's the best way to go about it indeed just as you stated. Speaking OUR opinion.
What I have suggested doesn't fit well with a campaign to "STOP" Moore. If what you have in mind is an educational campaign rather than a banning of the film, you've got to change the name of the campaign.
I can see your concern, we just see it differently, but your concern was certainly discussed and debated here a couple weeks ago when we were formulating our strategy as it relates to the movie here at Move America Forward.
Cheers.
Nope - actually the contrary. Trying to get Americans to voice THEIR opinions. I'm not sure you read our message on the website, if you did you might have misconstrued what we were asking people to do.
I'm wondering whether some people post before reading things today given some of the posts I've read :)
The link I posted was to the story at Yahoo News! They post wire service stories and stories from news agencies.
The poll, which was conducted from Saturday to Tuesday, surveyed 1,230 registered voters nationwide. It had a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.
We want those consumers who abhor Mr. Moore's misleading efforts to campaign against our military, troops and our President to SPEAK THEIR MINDS.
And your reference to post #36 is great - I responded to it by noting that effort has been going on for the past few weeks (collecting those inaccuracies) and we'll be working on that with the news media. Thanks!
Of course I want the movie "stop"ped. I want it stopped because Americans who find its content offensive speak their minds and because a businessman decides not to profit from an Anti-American film.
Sorry - Michael Moore has the right of free speech to pitch his movie.
And I have the right to tell those same people "this is horrid to promote"
So, please, respect MY right to free speech about Moore's film - thank you!
Remember, confrontation and censorship only inflate Michael Moore amongst his Kool-Aid sippers. The weapon to use on him is truth, presented rationally and dispassionately. It's like garlic to a vampire.
