It was a joke...about Ronnie on the set, talking. Someone asked, "you should be president." Ronnie said, "of what." "President of the United States." Ronnie said, "you don't like my acting either."
When W asked Reagan one day if he ever thought about becoming president, he said, "President of what?" W said "The United States." Reagan said, "Oh, you don't like my acting either?"
Yes, a joke about fellow actors talking about Ronald Reagan in the '50s... asking if he might be headed toward other things (like being president).
"President?" Ronnie asked. "So you don't like my acting, either, huh?"
I think Patti smiled when one of Reagan's friends (I forget who; sorry) suggested to him that he should be president, and Reagan asked, "Of what?" When told "of the United States," Reagan replied, "What? You don't like my acting either?"
