I thought that was the excuse he gave for having to pay his "respects" at the Reagan Library. He wouldn't be in Washington, D.C. on Friday. Another, I was there before I wasn't there!

"Does anybody else remember this?"

I saw a clip of this the other night on Fox News. It was from a White House Correspondents dinner. The camera work was extremely shaky (as if it might have been amateur video, or at least a camera not on a tripod).

We forget that before a competitive cable news market, we, the people, usually didn't get to see events like this. (CNN did premier in the early 80's, didn't it? HHMM) I don't think I've ever seen the clip before, but it was a perfect George Burns/Gracie Allen routine!

I am very happy to hear that. They are our future, and these soldiers are such wonderful role models, and they had role models like Ronald Reagan for them.

(I've often wondered if he has better hearing in one ear than the other.)

I've wondered the same, Fawnn. In some pictures from Crawford, you can see him wearing ear plugs when chipping wood so he takes care with his ears now. But, I've wondered if he's lost some hearing in the past, in one ear, from hunting and not protecting the ears. He kind of holds his head like someone who maybe has some hearing loss in one ear. Then again, maybe he just holds his head that way! LOL

I will be on my best behavior and refrain from Aggie jokes until after he lands! :) Any Longhorn fans on this thread might want to fill in for me!

My son and oldest daughter when we lived in Texas both had a science teacher at Boerne Middle School that was always telling Aggie jokes. His son went into Agriculture and had to go to Tech!

I'm aware of the attendence of the following Reagan family members:

Nancy
Patti
Ron and his wife
Michael, his wife and two children
Maureen's widower and his fiancee

I'm not aware of any others.

By the way, a good friend of mine from High School joined the Secret Service in 1982 and was assigned to Mrs. Reagan's security detail during President Reagan's presidency. He has since gone on to management positions in the Secret Service. I noticed that he was with Mrs. Reagan at every event over the past week - they must have called him from his current job to be with her during this trying time - I'm sure the Secret Service wanted familiar faces around Mrs. Reagan this week.

Among the many lawmakers in attendance was Sen. John F. Kerry

I thought the reason Johnny boy went to Simi Valley was because he wanted to attend his daughters graduation from film school today?

Good points. And some of these people we quibble with here over such petty stuff will most likely be voting for G. W. Bush in Nov. Let's not forget that.

That's what I remember too -- couldn't be at the service or at the rotunda so he paid his respects at the Reagan Library. He is going to out whopper Gore and Clinton if he keeps this up!

Found out she graduated Wednesday night -- it was just one more of the Kerry lies!

It's heartbreaking watching his old friends (the honorary pallbearers) with their hands over their hearts as the casket is carried down the stairs.

Wonder if that Major General at one time was assigned as part of the detail to the President -- he is so concerned about Nancy and they talk all the time like old friends.

I feel sorry for Michael this week though because Nancy has made him stand on the second row for all of the ceremonies.

That simply is not true.

At the very first ceremony at the Reagan Library in California Michael was right there in the front row (there were only two I think). If you are harking to the Rotunda, I'm of a mind there was another reason, not family disharmony, for Michael's placement. And today he was right there in the same pew as the others.

How distressing to see this carping, especially saying things that aren't true. It's bad enough picking apart what has actually transpired.

For those interested..after the services tonight a tent is going to be set up to hinder the actual burial from the public. It is unknown if the family will be in the tent by me at this time but I am glad that this one moment will be private after all The Reaga'ns have shared with us this week.

Did you see the thread where in the Screen ASctors Guild offices, there is NOP mention, or pic of Reagan?

There was a thread? No I just saw the Scarborough County where the guy (don't know his name) stated that. There is a small tribute on SAG's website.

He still had a full day on Monday, then half days on Tues and Wed and then they were done. Since He passed away on the preceding Saturday, it just seems to me that they should have HAD the flag lowered on Monday.

I agree about the carping however after all we have undured by the media over the years any carping over Clinton's Kerry et all is well earned. : )

I just hope Bernie Shaw is around when the time comes for Clinton to tell us how he is sorry he didnt report all the bad things about Clinton and that liberalism is a term used as evil as communion and terrorism.
