These scum may be giving back handed complements but they are THINKING "good riddance" to Reagan.

You should have heart Katie's cheerful (closely paraphrasing here), "After a week of pageantry and mourning, the nation bids farewell to President Reagan." It was like she was saying, "You've had your week. Get over it. Let's move on. Thank goodness it's almost over."

You could hear the relief and TGIF in her voice. I half expected her to sweep her hand across her brow and exclaim, "Whew!"

There was a really nice picture of W hugging Nancy in the Blair House, with Laura looking on. I hope someone gets a screencapture of it.

I kind of hope by caisson. I had to work late, and I missed the whole caisson procession and got home just in time to see the casket carried into the Capitol.

However, I was doing something Pres. Reagan would have been proud of....I was at a local townhall meeting testifying how tax dollars could better be used.

I saw an interesting piece showing different president's plans. It might have just been on ABC. It showed one - I think FDR- and I noticed that the military people were hunched over, out of step - no attempt at being in step really - just trying to carry the coffin.

It is remarkable to see the difference in military precision today.

another interesting note is that one of them - maybe Roosevelt - didn't want a big funeral but got one anyway because they didn't find his plans in time.

Can I ask a silly question on that particular picture? Why carnations? Why not roses, which are more appealing and beautiful? Is it tradition that requires carnations? Roses are usually the preferred spread for a casket and wreath.

Yesterday morning

Native American Glynn Crooks of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux tribe from Prior Lake, Minnesota (R) stands in full traditional dress while saluting the casket of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan (news - web sites), inside the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, June 10, 2004. Thousands of Americans filed silently past Reagan's body at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday in an emotional outpouring of respect and affection for the 40th president of the United States.

Why carnations?

I don't know. Maybe that is what was preferred or requested by the Reagans.
