I thought I had heard somewhere that one of the reasons there are no blue roses is that bees can't see the color blue...?

Yellow is for bees, blue for butterflies and red for hummingbirds. Yellow flowers bloom in spring because the bees are the first up come the season. Reds bloom after to lure the hummingbirds now home from Costa Rica. Blues bloom late in the season for the butterflies preparing to migrate.

Of course this is a very broad and general rule of thumb with a million exceptions. But the flora and their pollinating insects have learned through evolution the proper time that the flowers may be fertilized and the insects be fed.

Kinda neat, really.

Class reference to Carter and Anderson of 1980 race.

Was it Anderson he was talking about, or his dad, who Reagan beat in the 1980 primary?

It would be great to get a screen capture of the Clintoons' antics for posterity.

I'm taping this ceremony, and the good and the bad will be posted to the web.

He's just laying low. Scared someone might ask him if he had any insight into how Ronald Reagan gave America hope once again.

Correct. I'm Presbyterian and my husband is Catholic. He didn't know about that and took communion in my church. His mother got exptremely upset and warned him he must never do that again.

I don't know if you have lost a parent, but you are basically on autopilot for those several days. I hits you later. For me they were strangely both the longest and shortest days of my life.

Please just cut it out. This is Ronald Reagan's funeral. Clinton-bashing is simply out of place in this thread. Please show some class, OK?

If Clinton does something absolutely unbelieveable, such as trying to grab the limelight, you can bet your sweet bippy we're going to mention it here.

Whatever.

Just cannot give it a rest, I guess?

Why not stary a "Clinton at Funeral thread?"

"A government in Washington that began to exceed its limits."

Paraphrasing Reagan's 1st Inaugural...which was something along the lines of "a government that shows signs of exceeding the power given to it by the people".

Fortunately, I have Time Warner and their DVR's, so I can record when I want. I usually schedule programming a week ahead of time. I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Just saw another pic of Bubba. He's trying hard not to fall asleep. Eyelids fluttering.
