U.S. Charges Australian Linked to al-Qaida

WASHINGTON - An Australian held at the Navy's prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will face a military tribunal for allegedly training and fighting alongside members of al-Qaida in Afghanistan (news - web sites), the Pentagon (news - web sites) announced Thursday.

I'm concerned about biowarfare after reading about this. Isn't Gettysburg one of two evacuation sites for Washington DC & Baltimore? The next two weeks might be interesting to say the least.

Flying for two hours at a low altitude over Gettysburg without any airforce/police interception seems really odd. Where were the state police copters? Maybe it was police/military in an unmarked plane doing some sort of surveillance?

Instead ask yourselves when the last time was that you went to Google and attempted to find a lead on a terrorist, and spent as much time there as you do on space rocks and prophecy from folks who simply want to be quoted and sell a book and collect money.

The criminal act was attempting to steal goods using a fraudulent credit card. The selection of GPS as the merchandise is interesting because it is a useful tool for conducting "dead drops" in remote places that can be easily located with a good GPS receiver and the right coordinate. If you want to acquire a GPS in an untraceable fashion, just pay cash. No records. No act of theft to call attention to your behavior. This is a another instance of seriously stupid criminal behavior.

China slams US report on Taiwan

A Chinese general has criticised a US Pentagon report that speculated on China and Taiwan's military balance. The report, issued last month, said Taiwan's leaders had suggested adding to their offensive arsenal as a way to deter Chinese attack.

But Lt Gen Liu Yuan said such ideas would cause war not prevent it.

Gen Liu dismissed a suggestion Taiwan could target the Three Gorges dam, saying the island's conventional missiles were not powerful enough.

The row was triggered by the Pentagon's annual statement to the US Congress, released in May.

In it, the Pentagon said Taiwan's "political and military leaders" had recently suggesting acquiring weapons capable of striking against China as a way to deter Chinese attack.

China has been rapidly building up its missile capability and analysts say the balance of power across the Taiwan Strait is shifting in Beijing's favour.

"Since Taipei cannot match Beijing's ability to field offensive systems, proponents of strikes against the mainland apparently hope that merely presenting credible threats to China's urban population or high-value targets, such as the Three Gorges Dam, will deter Chinese military coercion," the report said.

China regularly criticises the US for its handling of Taiwan, which Beijing sees as part of its territory.

China's leaders are especially incensed by Washington's continued weapons sales to Taiwan.

But Lt Gen Liu's comments were unusually frank, reflecting mounting sensitivities over the issue, and over the Three Gorges dam.

China has huge hopes for the project, the world's largest dam and flood control project, which Beijing hopes will help solve China's energy problems when it is completed in 2009.

"The Three Gorges Dam will not collapse and cannot be destroyed," Lt Gen Liu said. "To begin with, Taiwan does not have nuclear weapons."

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said last week that the Pentagon report was "Cold War mentality harbouring evil intentions".

The latest flare-up comes as another report from the US Congress, released on Tuesday, accused China of passing nuclear technology to Iran in exchange for oil.

right, they said it would come from the land/sea and air so I don't discount that at all. but hearing the word 'spectacular' used by them doesn't make me feel any more comfortable at all. And whats with the GPS's, would an EMP knock those out? We cannot deny todays weaponry sophistication in ANYBODYS hands right now. Admittedly, is it safe to say that everybody has a small piece of it?

Also I subbed to a yahoogroup concerning EOM and Daleel and found one post that caught my eye, if allowed i will paste it. This guy calls himself 'the voice' and appears to be in the middle of relocating from the UK to elsewhere, who knows.

I'll post it if anybodys interested because he seems to shed a bit of light on what eom and daleel lightly referenced.
