DC Chapter On-Scene Report #1: FReepers waiting at 16th and Constitution include Anglewood, BillF, BufordP, DoctorMichael, helmut113, Jimmy Valentine's brother and a friend, kristinn, sauropod, and several whose names I could not catch.
A Mexican visitor saw their buttons with President Reagans picture, and told them that thanks to President Reagan Mexico did not have a civil war and Central America did not go communist.

It's an interesting image. It's also interesting that the rotunda site or somewhere below it was originally intended to be the burial site for George and Martha Washington but when George died Martha refused that request and hence they are buried at Mt. Vernon.

Rush talked with a man who had been standing in line at the Capitol since 3:00 a.m. Guy said the press was interviewing everyone in the line and asking why they were there.
The press wasn't getting the answers they wanted and the last question they asked everyone was "how did you feel about Iran-Contra".
Rush said it's like an obituary of FDR and highlighting the fact that he imprisoned the Japanese during WWII.

Chris Matthews is a disgusting person. He his talking about people waiting to see the hearse go by might not have even been born when Reagan took office, so you have to wonder what their parents have told them, then speaking a parent to child "Yeah, I remember him he came in around 80-81 and there was a lot talk about taxes, and Iran-Contra and is keptchup a vegetable, but in the end here we don't remember those things".....What a despicable man.

Would you have him treated like Lenin or is it Stalin who's entombed above ground?Lenin is above ground, though his glass case is kept airtight. There are also Catholic saints with intact bodies above ground.
An embalmed body in a vault below ground will retain its appearance for a very long time, though the skin will darken.
Actually, a body in a mausoleum decays much faster, due to the exposure to air.

I was furious last night that the implication was made by talking heads that Reagans were the only ones who pre-planned the funeral. Not so! It's something every president has to do on leaving the White House.
Judy Woodruff CNN, is repeating what Brit said: That the off course plane was a VIP plane. She's also going on and on about how she had to "run for her life" because of it. Give it up, CNN....case is closed!!!

Of my local networks, only CBS is still covering. (I'll guess ABC and NBC will rejoin when the actual procession begins)
