Arrival at Andrews Air Force Base scheduled for 5 P.M. EDT.
Beginning of procession: 16th and Constitution at 6:00 P.M.
---------
The procession begins at 16 th Street and Constitution Avenue with the ceremonial transfer of remains of former President Ronald Reagan from a hearse to a horse-drawn caisson for the processional to the Capitol. The casket transfer will take place at 6 p.m. and caisson continues east with formal military escort.
The public will be able to pay final respects while the remains lie in state in the Capitol rotunda from 7:00 p.m. through Friday, June 11, 2004 at 9:30 a.m.
As soon as the wall came down, the 3rd way were out in force like flies on spilled ice cream. It's amazing how fast we went from Reagan's hard core conservatism to tepidness and globalony PC garbage.
Be sure to allow time to let it fully load (it's worth it)
That was such a moving moment. So was Margaret Thatcher's curtsey before the casket. I cried when I saw her there. Thatcher and Reagan together again, it brought to mind so many images of them from when I was a kid.
If you look closely there, there are no chairs. Those who are sitting can be assumed to have come in on those chairs. Indifference? Never assume such a thing from a snapshot. Nit Picking.
She then broke into tears and crying saying how he was such a good man and such a good President that she had to go to DC to pay her respects to him .. and then said .. I'm not even a Republican, she was a Democrat that wanted to be there for him
Is the Pope Catholic? Of course there are Freepers criticizing the events. The casket wasn't placed with geometric precision in the rotunda, the sentinel sailor was standing further from his corner of the casket than the others, people are wearing t-shirts and flip-flops to view the casket, Carl Levin was sitting down, the wreaths around the casket are "sissified", blah, blah, blah, waaah, waaah, waaah, shut up, no you shut up, etc.....it wouldn't be a live thread without it.
Very good! You forgot "The prayer wasn't Christian enough" and "why didn't the guy in the wheelchair stand up?"
Well, I've been watching too. And if you were watching on Monday, you would have clearly seen Michael Reagan with the rest of the family. I think you're looking for opportunities to see things that aren't there.
I think there are only two class of objections to stevens. Both are miniscule in legitimacy. 1. Just leftists who are upset at Reagans achievements and they just want to knock it down and 2. a few well meaning but misguided people who are hypersensitive about not duplicating the wellstone fiasco.
You can not discuss Reagan's presidency without discussing the points touched by Stevens.
Some people see isthisnickcool's face on Bo Derek's buttock, other people see Katie Couric's colon.
Hey, btw, has anyone seen John Kerry's camera crew? Last I heard, they were filming the Senator while he posed in front of the catafalque as Rodin's The Thinker...
Be Seeing You,
Chris
When that woman curtseyed I choked, too.
What annoys me more is that the Brits I know have no earthly appreciation for what she did. I think Reagan would have done the same for us but for the leftists here.
The pound is even now worth $1.83 due to that woman's wisdom and iron will! They should be kissing her feet! Instead even The Mighty Royal was cold toward her and said to have little of her.
The woman is a treasure.
Quick question: What's the record for the longest/most replied-to thread in FR history?
This thing'll be past 4,000 replies by tomorrow evening, easy.
Sorry about that everyone.... I have become as sniping at some here as those criticizing the events themselves sound.... burned out and time to go.
Fabulous day today, wonderful memories I will have of this.
LOL!
Hastert in '08? Hmmmmm.... ;)
I didn't get to see that. Know anyplace that will be rerunning it????
I can answer that... I lived there... The Hobbit Hole III
The muffled drum and more shots of the riderless horse were definitely more dramatic.
Although the horse was just as "there" so I guess it was the camerman who failed to show it as much. Beautiful horse, too.
