or that boring dude on PBS Charlie Rose
Was the photographer David Hume Kennerly? He also took that picture of Reagan saluting a man in uniform who was saluting him.
Bless him, he was totally, nuttily passionate about two things in his life: The Minnesota Vikings and Lyndon Baines Johnson. He would have been the happiest man on Earth if Bud Grant's dog would have urinated on LBJ's pant leg ;)
I've seen others ask the same question about Michael Reagan and the rest of the family here today.
Oh, it was so touching....she was escorted up....laid her hand on the flag draped casket, paused a moment, curtsied as she was leaving, and then turned back and curtsied again.
Wow...hope the news cameras will play that one.....what a good visual image that would be.
Dan Quayle has just done a superb job of squashing the liberal media opinions and the stupidity of current historians as to the quality of the Reagan presidency.
Has anyone noticed the absence of any mention (by name) of Carter? Several speakershowever, have referred to the worst depression ('70's)"since the great Depression" and the feeling that our best days were behind us.
Well, I spoke of that sailor but not critically, at least that wasn't my intent. I felt empathy for him because I expect he would have minded. It was only noticable in the overhead shots. It certainly didn't detract from the dignity and grace of the service in any way and I said that at the time.
CNN is already engaged in revisionist overdrive. They ignore FDR and all before to say that MRS. JKF ordered the research and she copied much of licoln's funeral.
They are in a panic that Nancy Reagan would have done right by Ronald Reagan without the help of a democrat.
IT WAS MY MISTACK FOR SURFING, I should have V-chipped CNN.
I believe that was Richard Baker, who looks like he could be Howard Baker's son.
I believe you're right. I'm trying to remember what the setup was the last time I visited the capitol, and I know there were metal detectors before we entered the house and senate galleries. For this, I'm sure the place is completely wired.
Right. It was nowhere like what the dems do. It wasn't a catastrophe or anything. But his delivery style was fast and political. The purpose of a eulogy is to praise the deceased, not draw attention to the speaker's politics. It's not like Stevens didn't have a lot of time to consult and figure out how to do these things right. Reagan was 93.
Thanks.
Thank you for letting me know that. Alzheimer's usually doesn't follow that route. Nice to know that all though they suffered greatly they and he didn't have to face the worse.
Get over it, wouldja.
It was so nice to see him at the viewing. Marilyn Quayle had me in tears just by watching her in tears. What an extraordinary day this has been.
I can understand your take ... but the truth is, there's nobody in D.C. or elsewhere who can tell Ted Stevens what to do.
Thank you, gw. I hope they replay Mrs. Thatcher's tribute somewhere this evening.
Yes, they seem to know when to keep their mouths shut. The other networks drove me crazy today.
