Arrival at Andrews Air Force Base scheduled for 5 P.M. EDT.
Beginning of procession: 16th and Constitution at 6:00 P.M.
---------
The procession begins at 16 th Street and Constitution Avenue with the ceremonial transfer of remains of former President Ronald Reagan from a hearse to a horse-drawn caisson for the processional to the Capitol. The casket transfer will take place at 6 p.m. and caisson continues east with formal military escort.
The public will be able to pay final respects while the remains lie in state in the Capitol rotunda from 7:00 p.m. through Friday, June 11, 2004 at 9:30 a.m.
You must be psychic. I was just now thinking about that. I was stuck in traffic today listening to the procession on the radio, and I never did hear it. I heard only band music and the ABC radio commentators droning on and drowning it out.
I was 5 years old in 1963, but still remember watching Kennedy's procession on TV. And, the haunting sound of that single muffled drum was what I remember most clearly.

Remarks at the Annual Convention of the National Association of Evangelicals in Orlando, Florida
March 8, 1983
Now, obviously, much of this new political and social consensus I've talked about is based on a positive view of American history, one that takes pride in our country's accomplishments and record. But we must never forget that no government schemes are going to perfect man. We know that living in this world means dealing with what philosophers would call the phenomenology of evil or, as theologians would put it, the doctrine of sin.
There is sin and evil in the world, and we're enjoined by Scripture and the Lord Jesus to oppose it with all our might. Our nation, too, has a legacy of evil with which it must deal. The glory of this land has been its capacity for transcending the moral evils of our past. For example, the long struggle of minority citizens for equal rights, once a source of disunity and civil war, is now a point of pride for all Americans. We must never go back. There is no room for racism, anti-Semitism, or other forms of ethnic and racial hatred in this country.
Note: The President spoke at 3:04 p.m. in the Citrus Crown Ballroom at the Sheraton Twin Towers Hotel.
Following his appearance before the convention, the President attended a Florida Republican fundraising reception at the hotel and then returned to Washington, D.C.
The President went on to talk about why a nuclear freeze would not be good at this time for America.
The truth is that a freeze now would be a very dangerous fraud, for that is merely the illusion of peace. The reality is that we must find peace through strength.
I would agree to a freeze if only we could freeze the Soviets' global desires. A freeze at current levels of weapons would remove any incentive for the Soviets to negotiate seriously in Geneva and virtually end our chances to achieve the major arms reductions which we have proposed. Instead, they would achieve their objectives through the freeze.
A freeze would reward the Soviet Union for its enormous and unparalleled military buildup. It would prevent the essential and long overdue modernization of United States and allied defenses and would leave our aging forces increasingly vulnerable. And an honest freeze would require extensive prior negotiations on the systems and numbers to be limited and on the measures to ensure effective verification and compliance. And the kind of a freeze that has been suggested would be virtually impossible to verify. Such a major effort would divert us completely from our current negotiations on achieving substantial reductions.
Maggie Thatcher curtsied Reagan's coffin twice! Incredible for her to do that, and no Freepers caught it???? Check the tape, but you can see this frail woman bestowing her friend the final tribute with such an act of reverance.
It was a great moment and bravo to Mrs Thatcher!
Well....you are right.
Sorry.
All I kept hearing was that there would be a short ceremony following the procession. I did not realize it was a funeral, but it is called the "state funeral ceremony."
It does seem to be of significantly less importance than Friday's actual national funeral service, however.
The original thread is locked & I would wager you've been here most of the day...have you seen anything from the DC chapter?
I wish that were true, unfortunately, you did share your opinion.
God is Jesus' Father, AND ours; but He is also his GOD. Think about that. Notice how Jesus is equating between himself and mankind in these matters and not between himself and God. He is making it as clear as he possibly can that he is one of US and not a god.
Why did Jesus feel it necessary to add the words "...and to my God, and your God." What additional information was he trying to convey to us with these extra words? Think about it carefully.
To whom did Jesus pray in the Garden of Gethsemane? Answer-Jesus prayed to his God. Why? Because Jesus was NOT God.
I am wondering about these wreaths surrounding Reagan's casket. Is this traditional for lying in state in the rotunda? They look rather sissified for our President Reagan. His casket looked so much more dignified in the library.
We combined the threads:
Do a search on StayAt HomeMother; she has their phone reports.
Wasn't Evans great -- I wanted to start cheering -- said Hollywood is so liberal and Democrat because they don't pay taxes -- they have shelters for their money.
One if from President Bush and one is from Cheney.
I remarked that I had not seen a woman or girl curtsy since grade school.
I wonder what happened to a very nice gesture that is totally feminine.
I consider this thread,"all in all,not bad,not bad at all"
Is the fifth person standing by the coffin from the Coast Guard? Is that protocol? How come they weren't there in California?
