From www.dennisprager.com:

The Latest:

March with Dennis! Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, June 8, starting at 8:30am in front of the Hall of Administration at Temple and Grand.

Dennis will be there,
leading the way to save the Cross on the County seal.

Bring signs! Bring your passion!
Let's not let the ACLU Taliban and their collaborators change Los Angeles history.

There is good parking in city lots nearby.

Don't Let Them Change the LA County Seal!

Stop the ACLU!

Call, fax, email or write to the Supervisors Molina, Burke and Yaroslavsky and tell them you want to keep the seal just as it is.

Here's a list of numbers and addresses. http://lacounty.info/Contact%20Information%20-%20English.pdf or http://bos.co.la.ca.us

Here's a picture of the Los Angeles County Seal that the ACLU wants to change. They want the county to remove the Cross because they think it makes people who are not Christian uncomfortable.

Click here to see the seal.

but isn't it odd that Atlantic City has just announced two NEW GOVERNMENT HOLIDAYS will be established on two Islamic holy days?

Or how about Cal State Northridge banning Hillel and the Newman Club from campus yet HOSTS the bleating of the ram's horn heard all over the Valley every Ramadan?

You know.... I personally think the "church age" is winding down. It's coming to an end. Maybe in my life time (I'm 45) and maybe in the years soon after it. Christians that believe in the rapture always picture an event where huge numbers of people turn up missing, like in the left behind books. But what if the rapture occured and a relatively low number of people were actually taken. Maybe one in every 2000. That would be maybe 100,000 adults across this country.

I'm just not sure there is really anything we can do about the direction we're headed. I mean I'm going to vote my conscience and all.... but I think we're becoming more and more outnumbered. And it's not that the church is failing to spread the message. I think more people have heard the gospel of Christ now, than ever before. I just think it's God's timing for the church age to come to an end.

"This fight is pointless. The ACLU has been suing and having crosses removed from seals all over this country for a few years now. And the Supreme Court has consitently ruled in thier favor. Until our congressional leaders get serious about their responsibilities to regulate a run-a-muck judiciary...."

I understand your frustration, but fighting against evil is **never** "pointless"!

On your sugegstion, maybe people should protest compliant Congress of both parties who give good 'lip service' to the cause, but then fail to impeach all these radical activist judges. you do make a good point. But again, if no one made any noise and protested this filth of the ACLU, then it would be even worse.

And the Supreme Court has consitently ruled in thier favor.

I don't think the Supreme Court has ruled on this issue. I would think that if the issue came before the supreme court that they would state categorically that if a city has a religious heritage that it would be perfectly permissible for that city to reflect that heritage in their official seal as it would serve a secular purpose to recognize that heritage.

My guess is that if one of these cases made it to the supreme court that the SCOTUS would rule unanimously that a cross on the seal of a city founded by missionaries from the Catholic Church was constitutionally permissible.

Dennis says this is a case of "truth" vs. "non-truth" or lies. To erase the cross is to erase the history of Los Angeles and California and the California missions.

God Bless Dennis Prager!

And as has been stated here in other threads, what's next? How can we have a City of the Angels? (In fact the translation of the original name included something about Our Lady of the Angels.) How can our state capitol be in Sacramento? (Deriving its name from the Blessed Sacrament?) How can we have dozens of cities and thousands of streets in this state named for Saints? Where will this end?

And why is the pagan Roman goddess Pomona OK with the ACLU, but not a tiny cross many times smaller than the goddess?

Yep, Dennis Prager apparently has more stones than the majority of elected officials in CA!

I'll have to drop Mr. Prager an email and thank him.

Semper Fi,
Kelly

The fight is not pointless. The ACLU has not been winning all the cases. Additionally the Establishment Clause in the Constitution is under examination in the Supreme Court. LA County acted prematurely by rolling over and playing dead.

As the largest County in the USA with a population over 10 million, we must stand up to the bullying of the ACLU, which only has a membership of over 400,000.

Prager suggests strongly that the signs not be overtly Christian – his point is that this is more about history (the history of California) than it is about religion per say or Christianity in particular.

You know what's really sad? This meeting tomorrow will be held right next to the Catholic Cathedral.. and yet I bet Cardinal Mahony will not even show up and make an appearance; won't use his position to influence & 'pressure' the board members to do the right thing.

that speaks volumes. of course i hope i am wrong and he will go.

You said:

While i certainly understand Pragers point, (and that was the same tactic used by Campaign for California Families when they had that anti-gay marriage rally.. not to 'focus' too much on religion, as the media would then try to pigeonhole the 'only opposition' as 'pesky religious types')/

In reality we have every right to focus on religion and Christianity in particular. heck, the aclu is lucky it's not a crucifix on the seal! LOL. since the 'missions' were Catholic.

By cowering down and being 'afraid' to mention Christianity, that misses the point. the fact is, its irrelevent whether this has to do with history or not. because the aclu FALSE arguement about 'separation of church and state' is a myth. the Constitution forbids Congress from establishing a religion.; or preventing the free exersize thereof.

what this does is limit congress. the Congress or the aclu have no authority to meddle or dictate what a city or county has on its seal. even if it IS BLATANTLY CHRISTIAN. so no, i won't 'cower down' and pretend this aint about Christianity. The truth is I was going to attend this meeting long before i heard Prager was going to be there. His presence is irrelevent to me.

The truth is, when these conservative groups cower down and are 'intimidted' & 'afraid' to mention religion or Judeo-Christian principles and instead claim theyre just 'degending history', what they are doing is CONCEDING to the aclu's false arguements, as if they have a shred of validity.

Neither The ACLU or their arguements have any validity whatsoever. The ACLU is a communist front group; that is why they were originally established; and their goal, among other things, is to remove all signs of God from all public life.

I understand your point but I just don't know if the "religious" point should be pushed by the Cardinal making an appearance as much as the "history" behind the seal. After all, by pushing the "religious" one falls into the ACLU trap. By promoting the "history" of the cross and the mission in CA would disprove any "religious" connotation of the seal. I know my explanation is not very well stated but it's been a very long day...

but by using that arguement, i think that's tantamount to conceding to the LIE that all religious symbols are forbidden, and the only reason we're 'begging' the cross to remain is because it has nothing to do with religion but rather symbolizes the 'history' of Los angeles.

I will never take that stance because IMO, that is buying into the big lie (that all religion must be Constitutionally banned).

I see that as grovelling,. like this:
"Please don't take the cross! it has NOTHING to do with Christianity or religon, i swear! it's just a historical reference! i swear i'd never allow anything religious to be on this seal, since that is Unconsittutional! you're right, ACLU, about that! But cant we please keep it for strictly 'historical purposes?' I promise i'll be good and do what you say!"

#$%^& No no no no no, never. That is hogwash!

Give it back to the ACLU ping

E-mail I received from Dennis Prager:

March with me!
Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, June 8, starting at 8:30am in front of the Hall of Administration at Temple and Grand.
I will be there, leading the way to prevent the ACLU and Board of Supervisors from rewriting American history
and removing the tiny cross from the seal of Los Angeles County.
Bring signs, e.g., "Keep the Taliban out of LA"
Bring your passion! Bring your kids (much more important than another morning at school). Bring your camera.
Let's not let the ACLU Taliban and their collaborators change Los Angeles history.
There is good parking in city lots nearby, and excellent public transportation.
Please forward this to as many people as possible.

See you tomorrow,

Dennis
