He sure did. I just wish everybody could touch the casket. I guess it is a sign of the times that we can't.

Aaaah, there you are. So nice to see you again, even though it is for such a sad occasion.

My hubby remarked on how frail Nancy is and wondered how much longer she will be with us. Even though she loves her children, he was her reason for living. He never let her down, never disappointed her, always stood by her, and now he's gone.

Wow! I just got angry, but you are an inspiration!

Yes, we have a huge flagpole installed in our front yard (and our home isn't even that big). During the campaign of 2000, I was so thrilled and sure that GWB would be President that I had it installed in July. We put a little boombox on our porch and raised the flag whilst we played the National Anthem. When we raised that flag for the first time, I was so overcome with emotion!

Anyway, when we lowered ours for President Reagan it was an emotional moment of another sort (that is for sure).

Thanks for the post.

It's difficult to tell about Ron Junior. He has lashed out at Pres Bush and a few years ago did the same to Clinton. Seems odd that they can't close the gap at this time but there are no perfect families.

So, how old is Nancy? Hasn't there always been some mystery of her true age?

I think mourning is part of death and loss, no matter how much we try to say the person is "better off" and know where he/she is. I know that's true about my grandmother--she was in more pain than we realized the last months of her life; I can tell when I look back at pictures. But I still miss her terribly, even tho I know she's in heaven, out of pain.

I like Shep Smith. He received some kind of award for being the most trusted newscaster during the Iraq war. Jay Leno invited him to the Tonight Show because of it. He appeared much more interested in what he was reporting than ANY of the others, IMO. I must have missed what he said to upset people. I like Shep best next to Bret Hume (of course). David Asman is very good also.

Yes, I remember saying that when June passed away, that Johnny wouldn't last too long. Theirs was a love for the ages, too.
