Counter-Protesters Take Center Stage at San Francisco ANSWER Rally

The fringe left was out in all its glory in San Francisco on Saturday (6/5), marking the anniversary of Israel's 1967 war. International A.N.S.W.E.R. organizers also managed to lump Iraq into the equation, with the blanket statement, ''End All Occupations!'' And just to cover their bases, the banner above the stage read, ''U.S. Troops Out of Everwhere!'' The banner also called for the U.S. to ''End the Torture'' and of course, there were many references to Abu Ghraib throughout the day. But all in all, it was a pitiful display and the best they could turn out was 4000-5000 people. Presumably the numbers will be exaggerated.

The usual speakers blamed the problems of Cuba, Zimbabwe, Haiti, Okinowa, and the Philippines, on the United States, while the rest railed on Israel and the plight of the poor Palestinians. There were repeated calls to ''change the system'' by speakers espousing communism and invoking the evils of capitalism.

Anti-Kerry sentiment was high, with the most common complaint being that he and President Bush are both ''war mongers.'' No doubt the Nader campaign should be thrilled, and Republicans can look forward to four more years in the White House if the left continues to abandon Kerry.

The large and lively group of counter-protesters, made up of members of ProtestWarrior.com and SF Voice For Israel, were waiting when the main crowd of marchers arrived at Justin Herman Plaza. The SFPD set up a row of police officers and motorcycles between the two sides.

As always, it was the ''peaceniks'' who were the most violent, screaming and shaking their fists at the counter-protesters. In the forefront were several Arab-Americans, wearing keffiyehs and leading the crowd in Hamas-style chanting. Hippie kids yelled, ''Free Palestine!'' while others chanted, ''Viva, Viva, Palestina!'' as if they were at a rock concert. A sign that said, ''Smash the Jewish State'' pretty much summed up the crowd’s attitude towards Israel. For good measure, an Arab woman spat on a Jew wearing a yarmulke.

The Protest Warriors, wearing T-shirts that said, among other things, ''I Heart Halliburton'' and chanting ''Four More Years!'' did their best to irritate the leftists. Judging from the red faces and the shaking fists across the walkway, it was an unqualified success.

At around 500, this was the largest turnout of counter-protesters in San Francisco. It is interesting that their ranks have risen as the left’s have declined. Now their rallies are attended by only the most fringe groups.

Setting the bar as low as possible seemed to be the order of the day, and late in the afternoon one of the A.N.S.W.E.R. speakers informed the crowd that he had ''good news'' to share. His gleeful announcement that Ronald Reagan had died brought a round of cheers from the crowd. In fact, this news got the biggest response in what was a rather lacklustre, dispirited affair. Perhaps even in San Francisco, the tide is turning.

Great Job STL and all other Counter Protesters for taking on CANSWER!!!! Wished I could have been with you, but I had to take care of our little six week old that morning. Then I heard the news of the passing of President Reagan, and spent the rest of the day around the TV. Ronald Reagan is my hero and biggest political influence since he ran for President in 1980, so it probably good I wasn't there. If I'd seen those creeps cheering his death, I think I might have lost control and gone after a few of them. I had to see similar crap from some of my schoolmates in the sixth grade when he was shot.

Yeah, Saturday was a fantastic day! The PW folks were really a great bunch. Energetic and gutsy and very disciplined. We had a big impact on the event and got positive coverage on the local evening news broadcasts. (I saw a clip with bgcountry187 on Channel 5, I think.) It was at the very end of the event as we were all walking away that the commie speaker of the moment announced Dutch's passing to the cheers of many of the remaining low-lifes. Not a big surprise to me that they would act this way but still it was quite aggravating. Many of these lefties are truly and utterly bad people. Still it was a great day and a win for our side. Thanks to Cinnamon and Todd for the threads and a big, big "Eagles Up!" to ProtestWarrior for their efforts. A great bunch of young folks without a doubt!

I found some more photos of belly girl. On JerseyGop.com she was nominated as "GOP Babe of the Week!"

My wife and I always joke that the Republicans have all the babes (we do).

As proof, I submit the following anecdote. My wife was late to our Precinct caucuses this year. She walked in the school where the caucus was held, noticed caucuses going on, and headed that direction. A fellow walked out of the caucus room and, after eyeballing her, asked her if she was there for the democratic caucus.

She did not know the dems used the same school for caucuses and thought he was joking. Expecting a laugh, she replied "Oh no, I'm much too good-looking to be a democrat." He was not amused. But they rarely are.

I also asked him if he thought it was OK for Muzlims in Israel to blow up babies and innocent civilians.

He said there is violence on both sides.

After realizing that he would not condemn Homicide Bombers and talked over my reasoned dissertations, I just walked off.

I posted this on another thread, but think it is one of the funniest signs that day.

LOL...and take note of the Protest Warriors' infiltration on the left side of the picture.

I remember seeing the local drones "protest" the Shah back in 1978, on the campus of Michigan State University, near the bell tower. One of the budding Islamic terrorists supported by OPEC's ill-gotten gains stood on something with a megaphone, saying creative lies such as, "the Shah is a CIA puppet, down with the Shah," and the drones strolling in a circle carrying signs repeated each slogan word for word. Hey, at least they were all thinkin' for themselves. [rimshot!]
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent
