I'm sure that President Bush was taking those words to heart and wondering if he, W, would live up to them, even as he spoke them.
And then I heard Fred Barnes completely dis the President's remarks by saying, [Bush] didn't say anything that couldn't be read in an Encyclopedia Brittanica in ten years time.
What is Fred's problem?! He has sounded sour for a few weeks now.

I heard that. Someone else said there was nothing personal in the President's remarks.
I think that was Brit actually. I wanted to scream!
President Bush was not going to make this about him in any way.
There is time later for the President to give more personal remarks.
This time, he was speaking for the nation.
I don't know what Fred's problem was.

I put a copy of the "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" bumper sticker on another web server - perhaps this will come through for you:

For the most part, Jacques behaved himself. But at one point he lost it and just couldn't keep his hands off George's tush.
Please to be pulling my finger, M'sieur.

Looking at a reporter
"Si vous plaît--how you say, President Bush--Clymer?"
"You got it, Jacques."

That was Tony Snow who said that! I emailed him a letter last night telling him that he was completely offbase.

Thanks for your well wishes; I am finally (mid-day Sunday) starting to begin to feel somewhat like a human being again. ;-)

I'm really sick today and a lot of people at the party for the Belmont races told me their spouses and other family members have been sick with summer colds and flu as well.
The only thing we can do is rest and freep :-)

What is that thing on the floor between the presidents? It looks like a gold-translucent dog or monkey statue. Very weird looking.
