Hollywood sources tell LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke that former President Ronald Reagan's medical condition has suddenly worsened. "He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... Remember in one of his SOTU speeches, he was quoted to have said, "We are taking America "Back to the Future," and where we're going, we won't need roads." That was in reference to one of my favorite movies, "BAck to the Future."

Remember in the Back to the Future scene where Christopher Lloyd in 1955 asks Michael J. Fox who is President in 1985. Fox says Ronald Reagan. Lloyd says, "Ronald Reagan. The actor? Hah!" Reagan was said to have loved that line in the movie and ask the projectionist to go back to that scene. Reagan laughed his head off at that scene according to sources. HE took it the right way, and his sense of humor was evident. God bless Ronald Reagan.

I will cry when you pass. You were the first American statesman in 50 years and probably the last for many years to come.

God Bless You Mr. President.

I want President Reagan to have a formal funeral befitting him. I hope Nancy permits it.

I have seen you post this on other threads too. Why do you think she would not 'permit' a very appropriate funeral?

Awwwwww darn :-(

Prayers for president Reagan, Nancy and his family. May God be with them and comfort them, and may he go peacefully home to our Lord.

He will be remembered as one of the greats of our lifetime. It was an honor for me to cast my very first vote in an election, for him. It has been my privilege to have witnessed his greatness over the years.

God Bless you president Reagan.

Because he'll die at home in CA
where he will be buried.
I hope she permits him to lie
in state in the nation's capitol.
Understand?

Oh I see. There will be a very big deal, a very big national funeral and memorial for his passing.

Whether they fly him around is not important to me.

When he was in office, I wasn't very pleased with Ronald Reagan.

His TEFRA [Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act] of 1986 killed off the industry I was involved in (contract engineering). It has never recovered.

It also ended the tax-deductibility of state sales tax and credit card interest, and changed the depreciation rules on real estate. The direct result of this last was the S&L crisis.

In hindsight, most of the tax changes needed to be made (with the exception of the new rules on independent contractors, which are still an abomination).

And his sense of life and faith in America was like a breath of fresh air.

Some other poster wrote about
having a train... I liked that
idea, but I guess that's more
suited for a sitting president
who dies in office and is carried
home to his burial place by train.
I'm sure it'll be a grand funeral,
meaning stately and proper, and very
very sad.
I guess what I am trying to say,
is I want this nation to mourn him
and we shall... the majority of
us anyway.
