Hollywood sources tell LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke that former President Ronald Reagan's medical condition has suddenly worsened. "He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... God Bless this man. A truly great man and president. Prayers for Nancy, Michael and all of the Reagan family.

"Win one for the Gipper" Let me remind you all that We are not them. We are better that they are. Always have been always will be. We hold ourselves to a higher standard for a better tomorrow. The man that taught us that is Ronald W. Reagan.

I hope you're right. The media will indeed likely be respectful, but they'll probably take the tact that Doris Kearns Goodwin just did on CNN, that Reagan's great legacy was "his ability to bond with the American people," minimizing his great accomplishments.

BTW, I like your screen name.

I've often wondered how I would react when the inevitable happens and our Greatest President passes on. Now, I am afraid I am about to find out... I met him in 1984 when he came to Ohio State to give a speech during the campaign. The Fritzbusters were there and a huge turnout to see Reagan at St. John Arena. He was the first President I voted for. First time I ever voted, using the old switchboard voting machine. He made us all proud to be Americans. He helped make this country the greatest in the world, and he will be dearly missed. He will be the most beloved President of all time.

Very nice short bio of one who will be recognized by all historians as one of the greatest in history

He lived a life in reality that he acted in some of his movies.

Back in March I was thinking about President Reagan and found two articles that I found inspirational. I think they are too long to post on this thread, however the links are below.

I believe Maggie is no longer doing public things.

Something like two years ago, I believe, she bowed out of public light, possibly for similar reasons as Reagan.

Our tears at his passing will be for ourselves....

This post finally brought a gurgle to my throat, to join the tears on my cheeks.

I am reminded by a quote, from Patton,
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived."

President Reagan did not fall in battle, but, rather, after an accomplished life, and given his enormous achievements it is even more foolish that we mourn his passing. Your post brought home to me the selfish reasons why that is so.

Can you believe that some school teachers are also FREEPERS?

They should open a school ... the Future Mrs. Buzzcut and I would entrust them with our kids! :)

President Reagan and my dad, who played HS quarterback, are in very similar condition.

I wish they both could do this over again.

"I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead" President Ronald Reagan

I agree that this is the most fitting epitaph ...

Unlike so many of the walking mediocrities who plague us today (Kerry, Gore, the "Clintons"), RWR, despite his great achievements in his first career and in government, never acted like a pr-ck.

He was "one of us". Average American who worked his arse off, had a good career then moved on ...

He understood and knew far more than any Ivy League pr-ck who never had a real job ...

"There can never be, will never be a USS Bill Clinton..."

What sailor would want to serve on a ship whose name was synonymous with "going down"?
